Does Halo MCC allow 4-player SplitScreen over LAN?

Hi,
I’ve been trying to find up to date information about Halo: MCC functionality since the big fix update from August 2018 but I haven’t been able to find a guide on the internet.

My friends and I want to play some multiplayer Halo MCC locally. Is it possible to connect two (maybe three) Xbox One consoles and have 4-player split-screen on each? Is there a guide that explains how to do this and what is required?

thanks

Hey VenomUK i,

yes it does, max of 4 player splittscreen per XBOX and you can do a LAN with up to 16 players.

With DHCP-Server
The most simple way: Take your router or something which will give you an IP-Address automaticly (DHCP) and connect all XBOXes to it. If there are not enough ports you have to connect all XBOXes to a switch and the switch is connected to the router.

No DHCP-Server
Take one switch with at least as much ports as XBOXes. Connect all XBOXes to this switch. Since there is no DHCP-Server your XBOXes will not get any IP-Address in order to find each other you need an IP-Address you will type those manually in the network settings of your XBOX.

1st XBOX
IP-Address: 192.168.117.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 1.1.1.1
Standard-Gateway depends if you want to be online or offline. Online = Most times IP-Address Router, Offline = Leave blank or 192.168.117.254

2nd XBOX
IP-Address: 192.168.117.2
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 1.1.1.1
Standard-Gateway depends if you want to be online or offline. Online = Most times IP-Address Router, Offline = Leave blank or 192.168.117.254

3rd XBOX
IP-Address: 192.168.117.3
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 1.1.1.1
Standard-Gateway depends if you want to be online or offline. Online = Most times IP-Address Router, Offline = Leave blank or 192.168.117.254

4th XBOX
IP-Address: 192.168.117.4
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 1.1.1.1
Standard-Gateway depends if you want to be online or offline. Online = Most times IP-Address Router, Offline = Leave blank or 192.168.117.254

and so on…

Hi GsG91990,

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer - it’s really great to hear that this IS possible as we have been playing with Xbox 360s! A friend will be setting up the network so I will pass this information on to him.

Also, is there any benefit to each Xbox One being connected to Xbox Live and if we are, can we play multiplayer Halo games with other people?

Good luck with your LAN! The other answers on this thread are great. I actually made a thread with instructions on how to manually configure Xboxes for MCC LAN.

There are a few gotchas when playing completely offline. The best way to do it is to keep a connection to Xbox Live, and have everyone have their own Xbox live account (doesn’t need to be gold) so that player names show up correctly and sign in is easy.

Great summary! Love the 117 in the manual IP addresses.
