Does Halo CE develop a difficulty glitch?

I’ve re-played CE for the first time in quite a few years and I’ve noticed something annoying. Even on Easy difficulty, the game felt like it was on Legendary. I actually died multiple times. For instance, the Elites never really just stood there and took damage, but this time it seems like they just moved every 3 seconds. I used to be able stick them with plasma grenades, but this time I was lucky if I managed to throw one near them. I also had to empty a magazine and a half in order to kill an Elite MINOR of all things.

They also spammed grenades and fuel rod cannons on me, taking away my health quickly. My shields would take forever to charge back up. I know it’s Easy mode because I had the tutorial and Johnson gave the “Easy mode” speech at the beginning of the game.

Is it just because my copy is old? I got it in like 2003 or 2004. Maybe my Xbox is old and acting up? I don’t know. Anyone else run into this, because it’s very annoying.

I haven’t seen a such glitch and in my eyes, the most feasible option is that you played the game on normal by mistake as the tutorial on The Pillar of Autumn can both the played on the Easy and Normal difficulty setting.

On the other hand, Halo CE on normal shouldn’t be that difficult on either Easy or Normal. The main difference between these difficulties is that the player is weaker on Normal and the shield takes much longer to recharge on Easy.

Yah, but Johnson gives the “Eyes down range, fingers on the trigger, and we all come home alive” speech at the beginning of mine, which he only does on Easy.
