Spoilers ahead,
In Halo 4 there was a powerful effect left on me when Cortana died at the end. You go through the entire game juggling finding human contact, what the didact is doing, and keeping Cortanas rampancy in check.
Now in Halo 5 Cortana is back and her problem with rampancy in Halo 4 is now gone. This just kicks you in the gut because one of your main motives in Halo 4 was Cortanas rampancy. Then Cortana being back just negates the effects of the powerful ending in Halo 4.
I still liked this campaign a lot, but I can’t help but feel that Chiefs actions in Halo 4 were for nothing, other then stopping the didact.
I think she’s still rampant, but she’s not dying. So unbound craziness. Hence becoming mad with power. She might be able to still be saved, or we’ll have to kill her…time will tell.
That’s like saying Halo 5 negates every previous Halo because the Covenant is finally (for now) over.

Covenants are bad guys though Kappa
1: I predicted this
2: it does not negate halo 4’s story…as we do not know just HOW Cortana is left now. Also, her humanity and John’s will be tested in halo 6.
3: the real villain will likely turn out to be the warden

People assumed she died they never declared her dead. She entered the domain which not only fixed rampancy but also makes her “immortal”. Now she has plans to bring peace to the galaxy no matter what the cost. Being that she was made from Dr. Halsey, who was in charge of the Spartan program, a program that did “wrong” for the greater good it’s not surprising Cortana is trying to do the same thing.
