I have a copy of Halo 2: Vista on the way. I was just wondering if the online servers still work? I hope not, as i only have Halo 2 for xbox original and have never played it online. And, if the servers are still running, would anyone want to play it with me?

Please don’t spread blatant misinformation. Halo 2: PC servers were supposed to shut down in June, but have now appeared to have been bumped to early 2014. I was playing on them in July myself.
As for them being down recently I’m not sure if that’s intentional or permanent or what, and i am not checking for myself right now, but currently there isn’t any official announcement as to when the servers will shut down permanently be disabled.

I just played online the other day.
I’ve read around that new keys can no longer be activated for online play (offline is reportedly unaffected) but I honestly do not know for my self. Let us know how it goes for you mrcrazy
I just played a game and got some achievements online. There are clans with public servers still up and running. You have to be able to activate your game though to play online and that requires a working key.

I just activated a key today, multiplayer works :).
Halo 2, along with all the other Games for Windows LIVE games will work until July 1st, 2014. At that time MS will kill the servers for GFWL and you can no longer play matchmaking in ANY GFWL game that supports online multiplayer. This was released by a update on the xbox.com website for the game Age of Empires Online. The posting has since been removed. Source
