I saw H2 PC at a shop the other day but it was for windows vista. Would it work for Windows 10?
Sadly no because it was using Microsoft’s games for windows marketplace which is required to login in which shut down a long time ago. Then compatibility is another issue as Vista was before windows 7 and is not well supported, plus the Vista port is not optimized.

Not officially, but it can with the help of the community mod Project Cartographer that removes the defunct GFWL stuff and also restores online functionalities while adding some improvements here and there. You can also check out this page for tips on running Halo 2 PC.
I don’t think Bungie is touching it due to its poor sales. Bungie did update Halo 1 PC to work on Windows 10. They also updated it to give them dedicated servers once Gamespy died. Bungie last updated Halo PC in 2014.

It took me days to even get it working on Win7.
CE works just fine though!
It works fine on Windows 10 if you know how to install G4WL, online is dead though and even with modification the player number are extremely low.
The MCC is a better deal as you get most of the series in one package, online support, and you can download what you game you want one at a time or all at once (at least with the Steam version). On a recent sale I was able to pickup the MCC for $25. So ask yourself if you want to play more then just Halo 2’s campaign.
