In Halo 4 if you were sprinting and someone started shooting you, you would slow down almost to base movement speed. With the new balancing of sprint, is this slow effect still a thing (It’s very annoying considering it makes no sense from a lore standpoint and it also applied in SpOps and campaign)?
EDIT- For anyone confused about what my logic is, I feel like the slow down mechanic mostly negates the one pro of sprint which is increased movement speed. Since I feel like this was a way to prevent players from running away, and Halo 5 imo has perfectly solved that problem with sprint recharge delay, that it should be removed to make sprint more viable for making a quick advance on the enemy (Mostly impossible in Halo 4 if the opponent shot at you).

Realistically it makes no sense? Let me shoot you in the leg while you’re at full sprint and see if you can maintain momentum.
To that note, from what I’ve seen from recent warzone footage, it does look like bullet stagger is still a thing.

It’s not about realism. It’s about balance. Risk vs reward. If you turn and run away, I should still be able to kill you.

Energy shields neutralizing the impact wouldn’t slow you down, not to mention it’s power armor which moves with the user.

For your average human sure, but a Spartan? Despite the hate they get Spartan IVs are still tough, and their armor is stronger, faster, and lighter than GEN1 as stated by Frankie.
All I mean is that it makes charging an enemy a much less viable option if you want to close in for a melee.
You can sprint at full speed now, but your shield won’t begin recharging until a while after you stop sprinting, and they will NEVER begin recharging while you’re sprinting.
If you get shot before you reach terminal velocity (the moment your reticule changes to < >), you’ll be kicked out of sprint. Reach TV before you’re shot? Nothing short of death or a head-on collision will slow you down.
Also, as others say, your shield recharge timer resets whenever you start to sprint, and won’t count down until you’re back to normal movement.
If you’re already Sprinting, and then you get shot at, you slow down.
If you’re getting shot at, and then you try Sprinting, you’re Spartan becomes… stupid? Handicapped? Transforms into a turtle? I haven’t been able to figure out which it is yet, but basically you move faster freaking walking than you do trying to Sprint when getting shot at.

Your wrong. Shields can reduced the damage. But in actually. The momentum of the round from the impact will still throw you around. Why do you think when your hit by an explosion or hit by a heavy round, you still get rocked around a bit even if your shields are still up

“Realistically” none of those things exist. I was commenting on how OP said it “realistically” didn’t make sense.

Sounds like they’ve effectively removed all benefits of sprinting aside from map traversal and it will never be used in combat. Lame. The anti-sprint’ers still got what they wanted really.

If this is the case I may not end up liking the game beyond the beta. The beta was a blast, but sprinting was an integral part of that. Well see. I wont cry about it if I don’t like it. I’ll just shelf the X1 lol.

I’d wait to see how it actually is instead of listening to someone on the internet.

Cant speak for everyone, but my main problem is that it affects map design in a bad way, which is still a thing.
Now they make maps around sprint but sprint less useful.

Using sprint in combat is not so smart anyway. It is mainly for map traversal, thats the point of sprint

What I meant by “realistically” was it wouldn’t make sense if Spartans were real, not the world of today where Halo caliber super soldiers aren’t really a thing.
I would agree otherwise with what you said, except I would also note Elites in Halo 4 can move faster than you at all times even when being shot which is a little unfair to me.

When you put “if” it goes from realistic to hypothetical.
And Elites are not humans. That’s like saying it’s unfair that a fish can swim faster than you, even with a fin missing.

Yet they werent wearing full body armor. General physiology says that if you get hit in the leg with a gun, you would slow down. The other fact is also that everything dropped blood when shot so were they really only impacting armor?

Spartans are not far off, if not on par with Elites in terms of strength, and surpass them in terms of agility (Just look at Vale in the Halo 5 ViDoc).
I could understand Promethean Knights, but not Elites.
