As stated in the title above, does it even have a purpose now in Halo 5?
My guess is that it’s not effective as it was back in Halo 2, but when I do see people do it, I think they just do it out of disrespect (like teabagging somebody after you killed them.)

From what I know, it’s a strafing maneuver comparable to a midair -Yoink!-.

I smell sarcasm…
I do it all the time while I play not out of disrespect but I’ve noticed it helps me win close firefights or firefights were I get shot first. I’ve seen plenty of people choke and miss shots when I’ve used it but it is almost second nature for me I’ve used it since halo 2.
I haven’t seen too many people do it. Proximitty Cx made a strafing video where he mentioned it as a technique. With the thrust and crouch strafes being so popular, maybe people haven’t found it to be as effective.
No other than in Puzzle maps and parkour custom games.

Bet that takes skill.

Yeah. Like I said, comparable to a midair -Yoink!-.
Gandhi hopping provides two benefits in Halo 5:
- Your opponent will have a harder time landing a killing blow since you’re constantly shifting your hurtbox. Even if you’re one-shot, some people may struggle to land the killing blow, especially towards the head. - It makes it easier to reach and clamber onto edges that were previously difficult / impossible to clamber. It’s hard to believe, but crouching midair as you approach a ledge will make clambering easier and helps in escaping from those who are hot on your tail.
I would say that it is even more crucial in Halo 5 since it’s not just about out 1v1-ING amother player, but also used in some important map jumps. It’s not about teabagging or a sign of disrespect.

Not being sarcastic, it was an honest question. You can’t expect everyone to automatically know what a gandhi hop is. Anyway, thanks to everyone who explained it to me.

I apologize for that, my bad. Thought you were one of those peoples…

Here’s a quick tutorial of it from the person it was named after.

From my experience it does very little to actually make your head harder to hit in Halo 5 since the bullet magnetism will likely pull it to you anyway. The change in your head’s position is too small to actually matter much. A much better technique for staying alive is what is called “Strongsiding”. If you aren’t familiar with the concept here is a video explaining it and proving it’s benefits. The only problem is that it becomes very difficult to Strongside if you are using lower sensitives.

It just takes a jump and spamming crouch. It’s most doable on the a Helljumper controller layout because crouch is on left stick, tying the direction of the jump and the crouching.

It also allows you to jump on some ledges without clamoring at all. This is extremely useful because
1it is quicker and you are not stuck in a static animation
2 your gun is ready to shoot though the entire movement.
