I was wondering when the community play dates happen? I know Unyshek posted one yesterday on his Twitter when they played some H3 Classic, but unfortunately I was working so I missed out. I was just seeing if it was a monthly thing or not, because I would like to try and get that epic Ice Unicorn Skin for my AR. I do remember playing a match with GrimBrotherOne a long while back when BTB first came out, but I know the skin wasn’t available back then.
It seems like they have one any time a new rotational playlist appears. So monthly sounds about right, but I’m not sure if that’s set in stone.
Personally I wish they would have more than one team of 343 players searching during the playdate, just so people can have a better chance of running into them. I’ve been trying to get that Ice Unicorn skin for a long time, as a way to broaden my horizons and try out new playlists, but I haven’t had any luck yet and it’s kind of silly how the best way to match them is to track down their stream and time when to hit the button to start searching (and by the way I didn’t even know they stream their playdate matches for the longest time until a friend told me, since 343 never mentioned that on Waypoint).
I also think MMR might have something to do with it, as mine is probably much lower than theirs, making it less likely for me to run into them in matchmaking, which doesn’t seem very fair. Having more than one team of 343 players searching during the playdates would help a lot… Just wanted to throw that out there
Yeah, I guess they only do the one squad team so that it’s more rewarding when earning the skin, which I understand. I like it when it’s rare so when you use it it feels special knowing not a lot of people have it. I just guess that I’ll to check my Twitter a lot more then. lol

When I suggested 343 having more teams, I was anticipating someone telling me no, it should be harder to get. Which is fine, and I understand that too. But currently the challenge isn’t exactly from “hey I was lucky enough to match 343” but more like “I looked at their stream and hit the search button at a specific time and had a close enough MMR to them”. Now I’m all for having a rare thing that’s hard to get, but that is downright silly, if you ask me
