Does Chief know Spartan II's are alive?

So at the PAX panel during Q and A someone asked if the Chief would find out about the other Spartan II’s being alive. Frank O’ Conner said that he currently doesn’t know that they are alive.

Now I have been looking up summery’s of Halo Escalation plots, and apparently in one of the issues he meets up with Blue Team, Kelly, Fred and Linda.

So is Escalation truly canon in terms of leading up to Halo 5? Is it just a mix up in writing?

I posted this in the Halo 5 section because Frank O’ Conner also said there will be more to say about that in the future, supposedly meaning Halo 5 or 6.

So can anyone tell me?

The video below is the question at the time listed underneath it.

Escalation is Canon, we haven’t just seen the last part of the 72 hours later arc. In which chief and blue team can be separated in manner thst chief wouldn’t be sure if they’re alive or not.

Escalation is canon. So in escalation chief meets up with Kelly,Fred and Linda (They’re wearing the halo 4 version MK 6) and they go to a halo ring where Spartan Black Team is because they lost contact with them. I won’t spoil the rest but Chief knows they’re alive and he’s on a mission with them at the moment in the series.

So if he knows there alive why did Frank said he doesn’t? The question also put forward is:

“Will he ever find out that there are more Spartans 2’s alive than just him?”

This sounds like he still doesn’t know about any other Spartans currently…

Is this just a misinformed fan?

Another thing is that I am sure I read somewhere that you wouldn’t have to read the outside media to get the Halo 5 story, yet these comics hold the key to understanding it?

I watched the video, He said Chief doesn’t know which spartans are alive. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t know that Kelly Fred and Linda aren’t alive? I don’t really know XD

He knew.

But Chief disappears sometime afterwords. Therefore, he wouldn’t be able to know if Blue Team made it out.

343i can do a few things to get players up to speed in Halo 5. Some have theorized that The Next 72 Hours part of Escalations will serve as the Prologue of Halo 5, or maybe the first playable mission.

Did he say that before or after the comic was released? If it was before than it was because they wanted it to be a surprise.

its also possible he goofed about the comic’s release date.

Maybe Kelly, Fred and Linda are dead… There’s still another comic and chief will go rogue or missing or whatever Chief is doing. Explains alot. If they die Chief doesn’t have anyone and the Didact killed everything he held dear which would be a revenge type game for halo 5. who knows

I am sure I saw someone say that Fred is confirmed to be in Halo 5, not sure if it is true. If they do die in escalation I will be disappointed, I don’t like the thought of popular, well known characters from previous media to die in a comic.

It wasn’t confirmed that Fred is in Halo 5. We could only see an armor that looked like his in the last Halo 5 Vidoc.

And I highly doubt they’d kill them off in a comic. I would think they’re worthy of dying in a game(or even better, not die).

In Braile on Fred’s armor it says 104 which is Fred 104 which confirms it’s him but it doesn’t confirm his pressense in the game. But i do doubt they would kill them off but you never know since 343 killed spartan black team in one comic page.

He probably lied.

> He probably lied.

That would be a foolish thing to lie about.

However, it further supports that Chief will be seperated from Blue Team. And if that’s the case, Blue Team being questioned by Locke about the events that occurred in the comic within the prologue of Halo 5 would be a great way to tie the comic into the game.
