Does canon halo fit with the game halo

I think it’s better when canon stuff does fit

Definitely, when world-building, it is always better if a consistent narrative spans the franchise. Star Trek didn’t pay attention to consistency, and as a result it gets constant ribbing for its internal contradictions, such as Voyager firing nearly 3x as many Photon Torpedoes as they had over the course of the series, and Star Wars’ Expanded Universe diverged from the movies so much that in order to make additional movies, most of it had to be removed entirely from canon. Because of those examples, Halo’s been much better at keeping its lore to a coherent narrative, and 343 has strived to make gameplay match the story.

Yes. Of course it does.

YES. It always has and always will. Halo’s Universe is one of its strongest assets and I don’t see that changing any time soon, or at all.

Heh, the Voyager episode “Equinox” was just on BBC America last night, and my wife commented in the middle of a battle “Whatever happened to them rationing their torpedoes in the first season?!” Star Trek was my first sci fi love as a kid but to be honest looking at it now, its writing sometimes left an awful lot to be desired. As did its adherence to its own canon.

Anyway… in response to the OP, yes, it should and I think for the most part it does.

And thankfully, Halo’s lore is so tight that you really don’t have to worry about anything weird slipping through.
It really is satisfying, yes.

Halo’s canon isn’t perfect. It was actually all over the place before 343i gave it a look over. A handful of retcons here, some data drops there and things start to finally make a little more sense. They’re still not perfect though, but nothing ever is.

Also, the USS Voyager had the materials to engineer and build a new class of shuttle from scratch. Surely they had the materials to replenish their Photon Torpedo compliment. You can point out that they said they had to ration them in the beginning, but that was at the start of their journey when they didn’t know what was ahead of them. After a few years of meeting and trading with non-hostile species, they would have been able to replenish such necessities.

Absolutely.

as long as you keep the old and the new lore separate then nearly perfectly.

Absolutely. Part of what I love about Halo, there. That’s why I so desperately want Halo to break out of the bounds of conventional first-person-shooter gameplay; there’s only so much that can be done with a regular first-person shooter.

Halo 5’s “weapons-down” missions(though they should have been a part of other levels, rather than their own missions) are one of my favorite examples thus far - a level in a shooter where you don’t shoot anyone. Those levels just ooze atmosphere, world-building, and story, and I want to see Halo doing more of that as it goes along.

Yeah I always kinda wondered why they couldn’t just build as many as they need - they can replicate the casings and they have an antimatter generator on board, otherwise they’d run out of fuel.

… hehe sorry, getting off topic.

What does this even mean? All the Lore is the same. Doesn’t matter when it came out. Fall of Reach is the only example of major retcons/rewrites due to age but that was done by both Bungie and 343i.

Definitely! Everything that follows lore to an extent always has an amazing result!

what do you guys think should I be master chief or my own spartan?
