I know the new btb mode was just shown off and I love me some btb but was anyone else a little disappointed that there was nothing new shown off? Like why didn’t they mix dominion from halo 4, btb and warzone to make a sweet mode. To me it just looked like btb with the warzone player count and ordnance drops that were also in h4 btb.
I want to clarify that I’m not bashing the game and I think it looks absolutely amazing but I wasn’t blown away by btb 2.0 at all. Like is there a lot missing that we don’t know about? I was expecting it to be a mashup of what I listed above.
I think Halo 5 got a lot of backlash because Warzone essentially pushed Big Team Battle out of the game entirely. That’s likely why they showcased the new, revamped BTB in Halo Infinite during the showcase. I wouldn’t necessarily interpret that as them ‘replacing’ Warzone, but rather saying “hey, look, we still care about BTB!”. Warzone might still return, but we’ll have to wait and see!
BTB was an after thought for 343 in Halo 5, that made a big number of people annoyed. I highly doubt warzone will make a return, honestly they’re probably more likely to sneak a battle royale in there before bringing warzone back. I did like warzone and it was a very fun mode, in fact that’s where I spent most of my time in Halo 5, but I feel that not bringing it back is probably the right move, instead they should focus on BTB and Firefight. Though warzone could still very much be in the game either at launch or further down the line, but I highly doubt it.
A lot of people were VERY pissed off that BTB was kicked to the curb in Halo 5 and 343I basically said “We want BTB players to play warzone, forget about BTB” one problem though, warzone doesn’t play anything like Halo.
We don’t know if warzone is gone actually, but I for one hope it is. Focusing on BTB for large combat is a much better idea. If you liked large combat maps, and didn’t like warzone, then you pretty much had no option in 5, until forge people came in and made BTB maps and that’s not the same as developer made maps. For most people, they play Halo for the Halo experience and to put it simply, Warzone didn’t offer that at all, hence why I think it was removed.
I am a huge btb fan but I still have a lot of hope for special modes in the future. If it is a full halo game, I am ok with no new special modes at launch. Just have a full game with forge, custom lobbies hopefully, social, competitive, campaign, and the customization that looks absolutely incredible.
Honestly infinite looks like my dream halo game.
Putting it lightly Warzone sucked. There were so many things that it got wrong.
if you are losing by a decent margin players prefer to save their REQs for the next match. Either you quit out or take your beating. - Full teams broke the balance and lead to some pretty intense farming. Full teams essentially had to be relegated to their own playlist and farming still ended up happening. - I genuinely liked WZ Assault until they made it a rotational playlist. Other than that the only criticism for WZA is that you don’t switch sides like invasion. - New players get extra punished in WZ for not having a huge stockpile of REQs like veteran players. - A lot of the maps just had nothing going on in a bunch if areas. - Even if your team does 99.9% of damage to a boss the other team can still snipe it. - Its the main driving force behind micro transactions in H5. - WZ maps couldn’t be forged on or used for custom games??? - No custom games WZ??? - I did like the weapon variants I’ll give it that.I think making BTB 12v12 is a much better idea than bringing back WZ. The only thing that I would enjoy to see come back is WZ Assault/Invasion with side switching. Maybe they have yet to reveal WZ, but judging by the fact that micro transactions are purely cosmetic i can only assume REQ packs are gone at least in a paid form.
I take this topic to say that if Halo Infinite is going to be a platform that lasts 10 years, they should focus on PVE content as well, not just PVP content.
If they do have any new modes then I think they’ll let us know on thursday 24th due to the blog there planning to put up since they’ll be talking about the future of Halo Waypoint/Infinite.
I’m sure there are modes they haven’t showed off yet. Personally I’d be fine if BTB was the only higher player count mode, I don’t like the warzone req system.
Did anyone else hope dominion and btb with some aspects of warzone were included in btb 2.0? Idk it being toted as the next big mode with not really having anything that feels new kinda makes the mode feel old.
I wouldn’t judge it too quickly, but who knows. They may have something up their sleeve to release a few weeks or months after release. I wouldn’t want everything released right away. It could feel overwhelming (or underwhelming if they didn’t release enough).

Nope I read what he said and I agreed that I wouldn’t be sad if it was removed. I was just stating that I liked warzone. Maybe I should have specified that a little better.
