I play unranked multiplayer for fun, and sometimes there are hard-core players that are all friends and teammates on the opposite team, clearly coordinating on headset with each other, which I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that per se, other than why don’t they play ranked matches with other people who are collaborating with their teammates too, but I realize that its their choice to do what they want even if it doesn’t make sense to me.
Anyway, it ruins the experience for me because my style of gameplay usually makes me a target and then I get ganged up on by those types of teams. Like repeatedly having 3-4 of the opposite teammates constantly seeking me and then when I get in a firefight I stand no chance as bullets fly at me from 3-4 different directions. (The funny thing is this usually results in a win for my team because the other team is always distracted and focusing on me so they end up ambushed, but it destroys my K/D). So I was hoping if I block those guys, that I won’t be matched up against them in future rounds, but does it work that way? And if so, do you block them within Halo or within Xbox Live?
Anyway, I am a loner so I am never on a team with people I know or that coordinate with me, so it really seems unfair when we are up against a team who is (yes I know they can do that, as could I if I really wanted to) strategizing against us. This is why I play unranked because if I wanted to play hardcore like that, I’d get 3 friends to play ranked on my team. I don’t get why you’d gather your friends and play against a team of people that are all individuals other than it’s fun to have that advantage I suppose.
Honestly I think Halo shouldn’t match a team of individuals vs. a team of people who are friends and that would make this all much better, but I digress…
Anyway, am I able to block people from being matched against me in Halo?
This used to work in Master Chief Collection. The problem was that a lot of the better players ended up with terrible reputation ratings on XBL because of it, so I believe now you can still get matched even if you block a player.
Thanks guys. I think they should implement a feature in halo to block just being matched with certain people because there are also the idiots that kill teammates for power weapons or just go around killing teammates and although there’s probably a way to report them, it would be nice to just not have to match up with them again and then I could also not match up with the hardcore teams that for some reason play unranked and always seem to target me. I am a runner, more than a fighter which means I run the second I’m at a disadvantage. Some people might disagree with my strategy, but for me it works, however that involves running and hiding which sometimes irritates the other team. What happens is when a team is collaborating together, they almost always start ganging up on me because my style of play irritates them. It also causes them to lose focus and constantly get caught off guard by my other teammates, so it’s a benefit for my team. But at the same time I am always getting a horrible K/D on matches that have a group of friend teammates because they end up all targeting me and it really ends up not being any fun, as several teams have coordinated to the point they know when I die, and then they guard all the spawn points so that I’m being attacked the second I respawn. If I manage to get away, I’m constantly being chased and when I fight back I’m usually dead in less than a second from bullets from 3 other people. It’s not the biggest problem with Halo by any means but it is something I think they could fix.
Whats even sadder about this is that usually there are better players on my team that they should be focused on, however I am usually the one to get the most attention based on how irritating it gets for them when they almost kill me and I get away. So they gang up on me. That would be fine if both teams had players that were coordinating well together, but that’s precisely what ranked matches are for. Obviously unranked matches are going to mostly have teams of people that aren’t friends, and if both teams are like that, everything is fair, but if one team is coordinating well because they are all friends, it not only stacks the deck for them against the other team, but it causes people like me to be singled out and that isn’t any fun when you’re like me and you’re just trying to play for fun on equal footing with the other team and instead are just basically unable to fight back.
Blocking doesn’t block them through actual matches. As for matching teams, you might wanna play the Solo Q playlist. It’s my most played playlist. You’ll only be going against 1s or 2s.

That’s right, after I block some bad players, yet I still found them on next games.

This is news to me and totally shocked that this used to be a thing. Doesn’t surprise me however. People will do any and everything to gain an advantage to win easier games.
