Does anyone want a physical shield weapon?

Does anyone want, in Halo 4, a shield weapon? It would not really be good in offense, as it can only melee, but it could defend against damage. For example, a shield could probably withstand a single sword swipe or shot gun blast, until ‘losing energy’ and then requiring a recharge or something. It could be used to protect objectives and teammates, etc.

It would work like a covenant energy sword, except instead of depleting energy each hit, it depletes energy each time it gets damaged.

no thanks.

hell no. defense against sword = run/shotgun

So, no one is going into how this could be a good team based weapon?

all this reminds me of is the riot shield. which i did not find fun

This is exactly what I was thinking.

I started a thread about how I thought there could be a third melee weapon for the UNSC. I proposed a Magnetic Fist, but this sound good.

Make it UNSC, explain a way to make it beat the Grav Hammer, but lose to the Sword, and it could be a perfect rock/paper/scissors.

Jackal Shield.

Swords should not be blocked by melee, it makes no sense, a sharp energy blade should be able to cut through metal, might as well block an energy sword with your arm if your going to put your AR in the way.

Didn’t you hear? They had it in Halo’s 1-3 and Reach.

Whenever you get hit, a little force field around your armor deflects the damage. It depletes after a while though. And then an annoying beeping noise ensues.

I could work, but as seen in the COD:MW series, Riot Shield are really annoying and usually only able to be countered by a sticky grenade of any sort. I think they should put that in as a ability, to deploy a shield like the jackels in the original Halo trilogy and they dont last forever and they can get stuck by a plasma grenade and that they only take a limited amount of damage. Actaully this would be a great and more fair alternative to Armor Lock.

I think “physical” was supposed to imply something hand held.

Some energy shield or the jackal’s should be allowed in at least custom games. It could be used by people to advance in a line while defending team mates behind them. I quite like the idea. If possible, have a UNSC equivalent.

Thats actually perfect, now that I think about it. Imma post this in the new melee weapon thread? Great idea.

You mean like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSq-Jd5c73I skip to 6:44 to see it

D’oh! Of course! Silly me…

i can see it now… a team of guys all hunkered down in the gravity lift room on sword base with shields… lol.

As a little gimmick in campaign, I guess I’d enjoy. But never in Multiplayer.

Wouldnt be too bad if the sword beat it, assuming that there is only one shield.
