Not necessarily. I do think the DMR is gone, but that is because it does not serve much of a role along side the BR. The commando seems to fill a different role. It is a sort of hybrid between an automatic and a precision/headshot weapon while the DMR was just a precision/headshot weapon like the BR.
I’d say the DMR isn’t gone, just not shown as the Commando is the new toy. Since it’s an automatic, the precision will be low and can’t compete with the DMR’s long range.

Its the next HMG 38 an automatic suppressive fire weapon so I’d say more a replacement for the halo 5 suppressor. Multifunctional good for damping multiple shields by point men so the rear can finish with precision weapons or scoped bursts.
I’ve been wondering that. We haven’t seen the DMR in any of the footage and the commando is being showcased a lot. Won’t surprise me if the commando is replacing it, which is a shame, as I really like the DMR.
What i think is going to happen, at least compared to halo 5’s current balance. With the DMR possibly gone, BR is going to take the long range role, and the commando is going to take the medium long, more like h5 BR.
Yeah definitely. I mean check out how the Carbine is missing too.
343i specifically said they wanted to reduce redundancies. So they have.
In my opinion it seems like a lower range and less accurate carbine. I think it will have it’s place on arena maps but in BTB and ranked will have no place next to the BR. Maybe it’s TTK will be shorter in close/medium range but the BR looks strong enough for all ranges.
I don’t expect the DMR to return except if they want to add a more long range brother to the BR as they did in H5.
Looked more like Rain of Oblivion from Halo 5. That was a fun gun.
Having the DMR and BR in Halo 4 and 5 was a bit much for precision weapons

I think the DMR is gone (hopefully) and this gun actually has a bigger difference it seems. We shouldn’t have weapons that are closely similar for the same faction. Newer weapons need to feel like they are unique to the game and fill a specific role.
I hope the DMR is still in the game, but I will not be disappointed if it’s gone to make room for the Commando.
I don’t think this weapon will be replaced by the DMR, plus I think there will be a lot of new weapons in halo infinite and that will be good.
From what I recall, it looks like a slower firing AR, but with more accuracy. Hard to tell what kind of damage it will do, though.
My fear is that it’s quite powerful, and is a replacement for the SAW. I really like the SAW, looks kind of like a futuristic Tommy Gun. I wouldn’t want it swapped out for something that I personally think looks a bit plain and bland.
