The majority of people who dislike this game are good players. We (yes, I’m calling myself good) are upset at how our skill gap has been removed in order to please casuals.
Not only did they remove the skill gap by keeping armor abilities, having the boltshot, and random ordinance drops, they also removed the ranking system.
Which makes no sense, considering removal of the ranking system, amongst other things, was the reason Reach failed in the first place.
The players that like this game are generally casual players who were not good at earlier halos. They are now glad that they can go invisible when they like, spawn with a sawed-off shotgun, and no one can pick on them for being a low rank.
So seriously, do good players like this game? I still play it, because it is still my favorite game to play, but I know it could’ve been so much better.
Just because somebody didn’t reach the magic 50 doesn’t mean they have an opinion that is any less valid. You worship 50’s as if they are the ruling power when they are no greater than the lowest recruit in their opinions.

for me a good player is able to deal with changes, understands the game mechanics and acclimatizes fast.
we all have the same start weapons,so if all those players complaining are as “skilled” as they believe to be, there should be no problem to outgun the boltshot or whatever “noobs”
and whats the big deal about random ordonances? the fact that its more difficult to go on rookie safari? that they get at least a chance?
> Just because somebody didn’t reach the magic 50 doesn’t mean they have an opinion that is any less valid. You worship 50’s as if they are the ruling power when they are no greater than the lowest recruit in their opinions.
I think the opinions of those that are good at the game should be held to a higher standard than those that are not so good at it.
That beign said, a “50” is not a magic number. Not all good players are 50’s, but all 50’s are good players. Unless, of course, they bought their account.
Where did it come off as if I was worshiping 50’s, again?
The big deal is that two evenly matched teams can be in a 49-49 game that’s a standoff, then one team gets an Incineration Cannon dropped in front of them randomly and wins because of it.
“Adjust” is a poor argument, honestly. Many of you 343i apologists would continue shouting “adjust” if 343i introduced a fully automatic DMR that fired rockets that was only unlocked at SR130. It doesn’t matter that everyone can use it, it takes the factor of skill out of the game. Random variables inherently break skill gaps.
Also, the opinions of good players should be taken into higher regard. No good player wants to take away your chaotic fun, they just want a game that works properly for them.
“But why is their opinion more valid than mine?”
I have no background in fine art. I know nothing about it; in fact, I find subjective expression silly. If I was asked about a piece of art, I would likely find it stupid. The artist, however, shouldn’t even acknowledge my opinion simply because I have no idea what I’m talking about.
Similarly, I am a mathematician. To use a cliché argument, I often see those who are not mathematically inclined have issue with the statement “0.999… = 1.” When people take issue with such a statement, I may use a proof to attempt to explain to them why they are wrong. These people often reject any sort of rigorous proof, and insist on “agree to disagree,” despite the fact that they have no right to make such statements.
All I am saying is that whether you were a god in the past games or not that doesn’t gain you any extra respect in term of having an opinion on the game. Just because us “peasants” in you eyes are less skilled doesn’t mean our thoughts on the game mean any less. We just weren’t that good. A lot of us don’t strive to be the best of the best of the best. Make sense.
I was a 50 in few playlists and I think halo 4 has its flaws but is better than halo 3 and reach. Honestly the biggest flaws are insta spawn, lack of ranks/playlists and lack of de-scoping.

Was working my way up the ranks to get to 50 when Reach came out. Made it to 38 (I think) on my old account and I really dislike Halo 4. Have recently started playing Halo 3 again with this new account and have made it up to 29 in team slayer.
50 Team Slayer
50 Team Doubles
45 Team Snipers
45 Lone Wolves
47 Team Swat
I actually like Halo 4 a lot, but I am not ignorant to its faults and I hope that they get addressed in a TU. The core gameplay minus all the CoD additions feels like Halo.
Halo 3 50’s doesn’t mean that much… I got 50 in almost every playlist and 43 on Halo 2, and yes I like Halo 4, It gets boring after a few games, and It has some problems but you know what? I enjoy it because I play It with friends.

Nut up and learn some new skills? I’m good at this game as it is, but that doesn’t mean I like it haha. Opinions are just that.

I would like to refer you to your first sentence in your response. The one where you directly say you hold 50’s in higher regard than those that aren’t 50.
I was a 47 and I love this game. There’s some flaws but what game doesn’t? I think 343 is making strides to appeal to the most amount of people possible and that’s all that matters. I remember the haters when H2 came out and that’s now the “gold standard” of what Halo multi-player is. Just saying…
