If so, will it be helpful in matchmaking? For instance, in a game of Slayer Pro where radar is disabled, will I be able to hear my enemies’ footsteps. Further, will I be able to get a rough idea which direction they’re coming from? Is it worth the investment?

Yup, i’ve got the last gen X30’s. They’re really good imo, but today I had a problem with the audio popping a lot.
In game when it works, it’s great. The surround sound gives me a great vision of where they are when the radar is disabled. However, this effect is only miximized if i’m standing still because the sound of my own footsteps will drown the others ones out. That might not be a problem for other TB users, but it is for me.
I have x12s. They sound way better than my tv speakers and you can hear direction of fire and steps . I got them for $50 on newegg a few months ago. I have heard the dx12 are even better but $120. I would buy them again. The mic is awesome on them, cords nice and long, and you can hear your own voice so you can tell is background nse in your room is coming through into them.
Turtle Beach aren’t the only gaming headsets available and they really aren’t the best.
And yes, you can “Sound -Yoink!-” in Halo 4.
I have AX720s from Tritton, and I NEVER play a game of SWAT or Slayer Pro without them on. Granted I don’t always turn the mic on because half the time I’m with people who don’t own a mic at all.
May be good ears of mine but I can usually hear differing footsteps, although it always makes me jumpy because in SWAT your team spawns on you, usually from behind and start running.

60 $? what one did you buy the ones for 60$ dont have 7.1 they are like maybe 3.2 lol, i have a X42(7.1, and audio effects and more) it was 150$ so idk how much you hear but i could prolly hear it when a spartan is taking a Sh**40 miles away…

they are not Turtle Beach’s nothing can compare besides give the tritton’s about 8 months the speakers go bad in them…
