Does anyone miss "Proximity Voice"?

If you don’t know what that is it was a feature in Halo 2 and a little bit in Halo 3 but basically you could hear the other team speak if you were in close proximity to them. This made trash talk so much more enjoyable and you had tactical advantages of hearing the other teams call-outs if you were close enough which let you be able to tell your team.

Does anyone wish 343 could either possibly implement this into Halo 4 or Halo 5?

It’s funny you mention this because I just got a turtle beach and was remembering the days of killing someone and hearing them flip out at me. Ah good times. OT: I do hope it makes a comeback soon. I think it may be too late for H4, but maybe for H5?

I miss it because you could hear kids talking up lifts saying things like “He’s coming up get ready” And I was lol LOLNOPE

Awww I would have loved that on H4 ):
I really hope it comes back for H5 along with many other things needed atm.

Loved it, sadly party chat killed the online interaction between players. I too, am guilty of that.

It was cool but hardly a deal breaker for me. You’re just as likely to hear something foul and unpleasant as you are to something funny. Wouldn’t mind it making a comeback in halo 5!

I loved that part of multiplayer. I miss it.

Yeah I do miss it, it made for some really hilarious moments hearing people rage and what not. Believe it or not it’s actually one of the few things I still like about CoD.

I always thought it was pretty entertaining. So yes I do miss it

I do kinda miss it, actually. Not sure why they removed it.

I really do. I also miss how it would cut someone’s mic off mid sentence when they got killed. There was nothing funnier than having a friend go “Alright guys. I’m going in for the flag. These guys suck so bad. I got this. No prob-Arghhhhh!” -His emblem turns into a red X and everyone laughs-

> Loved it, sadly party chat killed the online interaction between players. I too, am guilty of that.

I do miss all the random online friends I’d meet in matchmaking in Halo 2. I don’t know if it’s because I’m older or what but now it doesn’t seem worth it. Every time I hear someone using the game chat it’s always some 13 year old screaming obscenities or someone just making random noise.

Hahaha. This topic brought back memories to H2 when they was soooo much in game trash talk w/ enemies. It is probably for the best that they took it out because you can’t control who you play and most people don’t want to be subjected to verbal abuse.

I still have hallucinations of hearing the other team talk when I’m near them. Not kidding. Yeah, I miss it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Hellzzz YES! Bring it back please, it was so useful/fun in objective games, especially one sided like Zanzibar 1-flag.

Proximity voices should be a feature for video games in general. Playing a game of team slayer, you don’t care about your teammates. The only thing you logically use them for is to use the process of elimination and figure out that wherever your teammates are, there most likely won’t be any enemies.

Now if there was proximity voice for your teammates, that would be sick.
If you needed to tell someone close by that there’s a guy close by…
-Yoink-…
You’d have to look at his service tag, find his name on the scoreboard, then say, “Hey so-and-so, there’s a guy behind you,” instead of just saying, “Hey you, turn around!”

Or, just imagine you’re side by side someone and you’re both shooting in the same direction. You could easily give a heads up to your teammate about where the guy’s going and what-not.

I honestly didn’t care for it. It never benifited me in any way whatsoever but it didn’t hinder my gameplay experience in any way either.

Bringing it back would be fine imo.

Trash talk is a glorious and underrated part of the game. I really do miss not only proximity voice but the popularity of public chatting in general.

OUT OF THE PARTY CHATS AND INTO THE STREETS!

I miss the proximity chat. It really enhanced the overall experience of being thrown into a virtual arena to duke it out with real live opponents. It was a unique and interesting experience that helped to build the Halo community.

I remember sneaking into the Zanzibar base and yelling out, “They’re coming in the front door!” and then escaping with the flag upstairs. Taking out the noisiest opponent to demoralize the other team, “Guys, I think someone is over he-Blam!-” Or singing Christmas carols with the shotgun in Rumble Pit.

It seems most people have too much of a problem with rowdy kids, but I think they would be quickly sorted out with the new mute ban system.

I want it back as well.
