Does anyone know when the halowaypoint.com website launched? Just curious.
PM a monitor, I’m sure they could tell you or point you in the right direction. If I had to take a guess 2010 or 2011. Maybe even earlier.
Ok note the stuff I say might not be 100% accurate. But this is based around dates we can get. I’ll purposely go deeper just cause I was plainly curious to look back also.
Around May 12th, 2009 the site was registered. This is pretty much the beginnings of this site at a base level.
Earliest record of the site is on September 26th 2009. But the site might of existed before that. That is just the earliest any internet archive has.
The site didnt have forums and was called, “Halo.xbox.com” and it was more a info site for a bit detailing the bare bones of Halo.
Around October 30 2009. Halo Waypoint was first brought into the public as an app. This links up with its release next to Halo ODST. As a hub for all things halo. Though the website didnt do much in comparison yet.
Around August 5th 2010. The Halo Waypoint forums beta arrives. The site also took a huge redesign to suit. Making Halo.xbox.com a proper Halo Waypoint.
While the beta forums were going on. A Gamma forums existed to test some stuff. These gamma tests finished around October 11 2011. Shortly after the forum beta finished leading to us all getting ranks. (That funnily broke leading to my rank I have now)
Small changes happened during that stuff also, Halo Reach released, Halo 4 released.
Though pretty much the site remained dark looking.
It wasnt till last year. August 1st 2014. Till the forums got their big update leading to the brighter version we see today. The biggest update we had here
