ok, a friend told me that “money 8’s” is a term to describe 4v4 competitive where people bet money. idk if that’s the case here.

Money 8’s refer to competitive Halo, where the pros/ams/anyone competing put together randomized teams of four and play each other. Like the members of CLG, EG, Rengades, eNvyus, and OpTiC all have pro players. So a game could consist of a CLG, EG, nV, RNG vs a OG, CLG, nV, RNG. And then at the end, the losing team pays up. “Money 8s”
As for the 8 on the Recruit armor, I don’t know. Maybe it’s a reference to Spartans participating in “Money 8s” on board the Infinity? We should probably get catalog in here. Or Dr Halsey.

I was going to say it’s because 343 wants to go one step further than Bungie, but it seems like a lot of people got that kind of joke in their head as well.

The best theory I’ve heard is it looks like a sideways infinity sign. Ship is named Infinity…its loose but it’s the best I can offer.
