So basically how does placement work. For example (using Slayer as an example) I thought I actually played better last season (at least for the 10 placement games) yet I got placed in Gold 3 this season I felt like I wasn’t doing as well but after those 10 games I got placed in Gold 4 (at 5 now, but was placed in 4). Not a big difference but does anyone know what criterias the seasonal placements in Arena play is based on?
If it helps, both season for the 10 placement games at least I played with totally random players for each game. Did not play on a pre-made team. Not sure if this matters at all. Most likely not.
Just trying to get a better understanding. If there is a topic on it already with explanations if someone can point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Placement is randomly done and depends on the alignment of the moon in relation to Bonny Ross’s left pinky, and how long it takes a goat to run three miles on any given day. There may also be an element of luck.
Sarcasm aside, it is supposedly based on your performance as part of the team and may take into account previous rankings I think. The actual algorithm is secret to prevent people from cheating the system. If you win against a high ranking team you gain more CSR, if you win against a lower ranking team you gain little. If you lose against a high ranking team you lose little, and if you lose against a low ranking team you lose a lot of CSR.

lol…I enjoyed the sarcasm and thanks for providing some clarification.
Glad it helped, I would like to know more about it, but of course secrecy stuff. I once won all my placement matches, and had a lag out of one but still came up 10/10, ranked mid Gold, whats up with that…
Yeah I don’t know. but I guess the competition you are facing in these placement matches make sense. If you are facing a bunch of Plat guys and do well against them you’ll probably get placed in Plat but then again I’m just randomly guessing here.

Who -Yoinking!- knows bro, I got a 1.6 KD and 68% WL ratios this season for slayer, still only got gold…I’ve given up on caring about rank, I got Onyx in SWAT once and now I’m just acquiring a rank for future season req packs.
