At the start of the match, there are a number of power weapons scattered around the map. In addition, there are three bases scattered around each of which supplies every 40 seconds an average of about 2 power weapons. A potential of about 6 power weapons every 40 seconds is being added to the map (although this potential is not always fully realized because bases need to be captured and fortified).
All this, combined with the vehicles, being able to start with the mini-shotgun boltshot, and enclosed, compact bases, makes my skill with a precision weapon completely worthless.
I realize this is certainly not a competitive gametype, and for that reason I’m not really asking for any changes to be made. I suppose the gameplay appeals to a certain type of audience. I was just wondering if anybody is as frustrated as I am when every single person they encounter has a rocket launcher, saw, or shotgun. I LOVED invasion (and also the Star Wars Battlefront series, which this seems similar to), but I don`t know if I can continue with this.
But I hate how whoever grabs all the power weapons first at the beginning of the match wins.
Or how someone will have an incendiary cannon at the beginning, halfway into the match I think “Okay they probably used it up or lost it by now”, and they STILL have the damn thing.
When I’m not getting blown up I’m getting sniped or occasionally someone with a shotgun/scattershot is camping with invisibility.
When my randoms don’t push for bases and have no idea how to play the gametype yes. I think there should have been some kind of tutorial for Dominion that players can replay. 343 does not ease anyone into these game modes, Bungie didn’t do it for Invasion either.
Some of my friends i played with simply had no clue despite the icons and what not. They are okay Slayer (that’s what they usually play) but twice has it been a complete nightmare with two dominated losses. It’s not so much their fault without some sort way to know what you’re getting into IMO. My fault for bringing them in true but should a Halo not experience his 60$ of entertainment?
I think it’s a fun gametype, obviously more enjoyable when you are winning of course and the closet thing we have to Invasion right now.

Heck you just named the problem with almost every playlist except pro. I average 15 kills and 10 assist a game that’s 4 power weapons or power ups a game not counting all the other points I get for things like distraction. Ordinance needs to go plain and simple.
Dominion is one of the best game types added to halo. i like it a lot. And i hope there will be more game modes like this in upcoming DLC. cant wait for extraction!
