Does anyone else think this website looks....

…Kinda ugly? And poorly designed?

The layout is strange, and the entire thing is a dim shade of blue, with those little “Auntie Dot” squares all over the background. It’s a pain to navigate, and the forums seem very generic, like the forums found on indie game website.

Anyone else feel this way?

I love the design and the layout, but the overall functionality sucks, any time we see maintenance on the forums, it tends to break things or slow things down, like right after the maintenance before E3, it slowed down the forums a lot, then because the forums couldn’t support all the users coming on during E3, forum functions like the search function had to be removed so people could load the forums faster or even get on.

I love the design and how well things seem to flow together. The Medals could use some tweaking, but other than that, I think it looks great!

Functionality, on the other hand, isn’t quite as awesome. The search function is currently offline, meaning “View All Posts” on the user context menu doesn’t actually work. It doesn’t track online users, so the “There are currently 0 users online” at the bottom of the forum index could go. It also doesn’t seem to track the last post very well.

What does a non generic forum look like? They all look about the same.

LOL pain to navigate? It’s so easy to find what you are looking for.

I love the way this forums looks, as well as its overall layout. Unfortunately, as others have said, it can be a little buggy at times. Let’s hope that after the release of Halo 4, 343i can put more time into forum upkeep.

To be honest, most developer forums I’ve been to, look this way, I like the way Waypoint is set up, a lot easier to navigate than a site like Bungie.

I think it might look better if they compacted the header a bit, and re-themed the site using the Wraparound concept art from an old Bulletin.

Here’s my attempt at it, using just Firebug. Professional art people who know what they’re doing could probably do better – especially if they raised the contrast (and then the brightness, to compensate) of the background by a decent amount. :\

Awesome! Background! and if they post Cats as their new Background for the Website, you’ll see my Rank say: M.I.A.

P.S. Ohh… So that’s a Monitor’s perpective. And y soo any tabbs?!

As a fellow tabaholic, I can say that it’s nice to have one-click access to everything. Also, I tend to hit submit on one thing, then switch to another tab while that other tab is loading. It’s kinda scatterbrained, but it works!

True ^

That’s an amazing effort. I especially love the background. Great job!

The website and forums will get a facelift come November. I saw the redesign last week, and it’s looking very sleek. It feels more open, and it seems to have a better flow. Changes are small but make a significant difference. I think (or hope, anyway!) you’ll like it.

Can’t wait to see it! I’m assuming performance updates, as well?

I think it looks pretty good. I like the shades of blue theme. They really need to get rid of the random naff faux-stencil font though, it just looks scruffy and doesnt fit in with the sleek scheme of the rest of the site.

And of course in functional terms this is the second worst forum ive ever used. I mean even the reply input boxes dont work properly, both quick reply and normal.

As bs angel just said, the forum is due for an update soon.

They’re focusing on Halo 4 right now, but are preparing to update and recustomize the site when that weight if off their shoulders.

I don’t mind it. Its pretty easy to navigate. The functionality lacks at times, but it does its job without too many major issues. Only at major event times like E3 or after a big burst of info is when the site gets messed up… I could barely log in during E3.

Thank you!

I’m hoping for a design more sleek like the Halo 4 website. Just overall, more modern looking, like Xbox.com.

I hope there’s new features and performance updates to come in the future, also.

I got to ask, after seeing the new site, do you feel sad when you go back to the old?

Will we be getting a sneak peek in an upcoming bulletin?

You know, now I want a peak -_-
