I mean it was fun for the first 20 minutes but ima mythic only played like 5 games of it. Its just so boring now and like 90% of the people who do play it only play it cuz it gives the most credits.
Thoughts?

yep. The only reason anyone plays it is for cR. It has no incentive. ODST was better than that.
Yeah, the lack of a significant cR gain from it makes it sort of lame for me. I mean, if there are Firefight challenges, we have to do them in Matchmaking! I want to get cR by spicing up the gameplay in Firefight Customs, not by boring Score Attack.
On the contrary, they didn’t give it nearly enough attention. It is lacking beyond measure, and the configurable settings are, frankly, worthless.
Halo 3: ODST offered an infinitely better Firefight experience. Firefight in ODST is actually fun, and a challenge. Reach’s experience is pitiful, monotonous, repetitive, and stale.
I’m disappointed with many aspects of Reach’s Multiplayer so I find myself gravitating more and more towards Firefight all the time. If it weren’t for Firefight I probably wouldn’t play Reach as much as I do. Hopefully 343i’s Title Update will fix Reach’s Multiplayer.
> yep. The only reason anyone plays it is for cR. It has no incentive. ODST was better than that.
Agreed. I liked ODSTs Firefight way more. It felt like a struggle for survival, whereas in Reach it’s just a plain faceroll with all those power weapons you are handed at spawn.
Please bring back the “OH SH*T” feel you had in ODST Firefight!
I actually like FF. When my connection becomes crap and I can’t play anymore MM, I go into FF and have some fun. I honestly don’t really care for cR. I play FF b/c it’s a good time.
I liked it when you could lose.
Now it’s just stupid.
I play FF when the challenges call for them. And I have fun doing them. Heck, I love doing the challenges for both FF and Campaign.
I like FF i just wish they would have fixed the lag
FF is a good idea implemented poorly in Reach.
> FF is a good idea implemented poorly in Reach.
QFT. This pretty much sums it all up.
agreed.
ODST’s FF was amazing but reach’s sucks other than i do like unearthed with my friends driving in the hog but thats it

I think the main problem is the matchmaking aspect. Firefight matchmaking is more of a chore, but in customs, me and my friends can have a lot of fun. Another problem is the fact that each set is the same. ODST was better because each set got increasingly harder. Sure, after set 4 it was the same, but it was still so much fun, the struggle to survive.
Oh, and the target locater. That needs to go (not all power weapons, just the target locater).
I personally don’t enjoy fighting AI too much unless it’s really thought provoking and tests your conservation skills (ODST) or it has a story behind it (Campaign).
I wouldn’t mind if Firefight was absent in coming Halo games, to be honest.
To be honest the only fun survival mode ive ever played in an fps was Marathon 2 Durandals. Both Odsts and reaches firefight seem boring.

Well, the main difference between ODST’s and Reach’s is the matchmaking system, (that and the fact the the FF achievements in ODST required teamwork to get). If Halo 4 featured FF, it needs to keep/improve Reach’s customization, while having a default similar to ODST’s for Leaderboards and achievements (at least, that my opinion).
> Well, the main difference between ODST’s and Reach’s is the matchmaking system . . .
ODST had a considerably elevated level of difficulty. This is due to a number of factors – ODSTs are not as strong as Spartans, Reach doesn’t have Drones, ODST’s maps were less campable and defensible (and had a better atmosphere) – but the biggest factor that sticks out in my mind is the ammo crates. Reach’s ammo crates offer infinite refills for UNSC weapons, while ODST’s ammo crates offered limited refills for the Silenced Magnum and Silenced SMG only.
(Speaking of which, those two weapons alone were, in a Firefight context, infinitely more fun to use than any weapon in Reach.)
Notable also is that Reach’s enemies are much more… passive. Brutes don’t berserk, and Brute Chieftains are hardly the instant-kill threat they were in ODST (since the Grav Hammer’s splash was given a directionality nerf and is “narrower” in Reach). Grunts rarely, if ever, go suicidal, and they seem absolutely incapable of attacking in groups rather than one-by-one.
Elites are more dangerous, to be sure, but they’re more annoying than fun (programmed aimbot + Heretic Elite + Sniper Rifle or DMR = fail). Same for the Jackals. It’s one thing to be pinged out of scope RIGHT when you’re about to fire a shot, which was a frequent occurrence when dealing with the crafty little lizards in ODST. It’s another thing entirely when some irritating Reach Jackal constantly pings you out of scope by derp-firing a continuous stream of Focus Rifle goo the very moment it catches sight of even a sliver of your armor protruding from cover.
ODST was a challenge filled with “OH HOLY BALLS WE ARE GOING TO DIE” moments followed by much-needed and well-timed reprieves. Reach is dull, except for the occasional moment of frustration and irritation. Overall, there are huge gameplay differences between the two games’ Firefight incarnations. Not everything can be blamed on Reach’s Matchmaking.

I never said it was the sole problem with Reach’s FF, but I do believe it is a strong factor. I often play offline FF with friends, and we have a blast like we did in ODST. You just need the right settings.
