Does anyone else not hear footsteps?

I can’t hear most footsteps in Halo:Infinites multiplayer modes. Idk if that’s a bug or just part of the game not working. I can hear footsteps on stairs and that’s it.

There is a sound setting on PC that you can make the audio compressed and it helps but there is a lot of weird sound occlusion that isn’t working in the game. Specifically when you are in a tunnel and distant gunshots sound much closer. I don’t think that’s supposed to happen. I don’t think I used the word occlusion right either I think it refers to light but, substituting light for sound here makes the word work. There needs to be more sound settings and better ones for sure.

I am playing on a Xbox1

i can easily hear players running around but i dont hear them going for a casual jog until i get back smacked

I remember hearing a player once very vividly. Other than that, it’s surprise grav hammer for me, all the time.
I’m also playing XBox (Series S) with a decent Sennheiser Headset.

The audio engine in this game sucks balls. According to the fix for PC players (which Xbox players can’t use) the Halo Infinite audio is processed in stereo…what kind of AAA title doesn’t support at least 5.1 in 2021?! Is it any surprise directional audio doesn’t work properly and footsteps are inaudible if this is true?
