Does anyone else have 'trouble' with their team?

Now, I’m no where near the best Halo 5 player ever. I’m quite average, actually. But whether it be Warzone, Fiesta, Swat, or whatever you have it, I’ll either be carrying the team or be on the higher end of it, but AT LEAST half of the team doesn’t play like they have a brain! For instance, in Swat or Fiesta they’ll pretty much feed and get few kills causing us to either fall way behind or lose whatever lead we had, and that’s infuriating! Or in Warzone, I’ve had teammates continue rushing bases end-game instead of going for the mythic boss at the end. What that causes is our 100-150 point lead goes away because the enemy destroys it and wins even though we were 50 points away from winning because our damn team couldn’t even AT LEAST get in the enemy team’s way until we won. That’s even more infuriating!!! Why?!? Lol! Does anyone else have this problem?

It’s the cost we solo players pay. Random teammates = random results.

Truth, as it has been, for generations.
Or, at least, since team games were a thing. People have griped about idiot teammates since…at least Quake. Maybe even earlier.

If I’m not mistaken in social playlists the game tries to even out the teams as far as skill. The whole team as a unit though, not each individual. That means if you are a better than average player you may find yourself carrying the team a lot. I may be wrong but I seem to remember that in one of the matchmaking update threads by 343.

As a solo player 99% of my Halo MM career (friends always been more into other games)… I can laughably relate to this. I love that way of saying it too. Random teammates = random results. Sometimes, I get a random monster that carries me home (:

Well it’s social so a lot of times you’re not going to get a full team of good people. You’ll usually only get maybe 1-3 above average people on your team depending on the player size limits.

So true mate. It’s why it’s so good to be in a clan or leading one on halo these days.

So true, it’s why being in a clan or leading one these days is such a good thing.

Most people don’t really take the game that seriously. Especially in social and lower rank Ranked playlists

When 343 made a safety net to the warzone and social area to prevent unfair matching where one team is better then the other or a person would be stuck with people of lesser skill, I was happy to hear that. After 2 weeks of the new season with the safety net input, I like to think that it has started failing. After running on balanced in super fiesta, I somehow end up with what appears to be new comers to the game or people with no brains whatsoever. Even running focused it didn’t seem to help because the people i go up against is perfectly fine but my teammates on the other hand are just straight up atrocious. In one of my recent game in warzone, i was with a team of 6 whose levels were 140s+ but still get paired with lvls 5-40 and they perform terrible which tells me that i have terrible luck of getting paired with scrubs or newcomers while the enemy team has experienced plays of 140+. The fact that they put in expanded, balanced, and focused as the search settings is great but balanced and focused does not function like it should.

It would help to remember that while winning is one goal of a game, it isn’t the only goal. In fact you might be surprised to learn that outside the realm of professional sports and/or gaming, many people play games for “fun.” Now I know that “fun” is an elastic term and that it can mean different things to different people, and I know that for many people “fun” will have as at least one of its many meanings “winning.” But for many people “winning” is not a necessary component of “fun.” As a matter of fact, there are some people who have learned to divorce the two. There are some people, in fact, who learned to do this precisely because of their experiences with Halo.

So in the end you may find that for the sake of your sanity it would be better to take your gaming pleasure from your own personal performance rather than from the performance of your teammates. This is contrary to the way 343 would like you to think, but this is why wins and losses are meaningless, and this is why win/loss skill assessment is meaningless. and this is why forcing team play and judging on team performance leaves so many people frustrated.

You know, I can have fun without winning. But it makes it that much harder to do so when I am in the mood to play competitively and my team doesn’t carry their own weight.

do you talk to your team at all? thats a good start. teamwork isnt just about you getting a lot of kills and hoping the other players dont -Yoink- the bed. its about coordination and communication. consistent winning in this game requires some serious teamwork, its not easy.

My only mic broke a while back and I haven’t put it very high on my list of priorities to go and get one >_>

MMR wants everyone to win 50% of their games. So if you’re in a team of six good players you’ll have to do everything every game to win because it puts you with the worst possible players. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were bots at this point

I get that… I really do. And I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times already, but this is why Halo gives you a choice over your teammates. If we, as solo players, choose not to take advantage of the friend list and the spartan company then the quality of our randomly chosen teammates is pretty much on us.

It would be great if everyone took the game seriously and if everyone played to win, and if everyone had some moderate level of skill. But this is a game that not just anyone can be good at, and while normally a high difficulty will drive away the less motivated players, there is no guarantee that it will have that effect. I, as an example, am the worst Halo player ever. It wasn’t always so, but I am now, and so you have yourself a player who sticks with the game because he just does. I’ve learned, as I said, to find pleasure in Halo outside of competition, and I’ve done that for no other reason than because I’ve always played Halo and I don’t know how to play anything else and I don’t care to learn to play anything else. To put it another way, if I’m going to suck at some game then it may as well be the one I already know.

So you have a difficult game, and low-population matchmaking, and players who, for perfectly legitimate reasons, will not seek out like-minded players to form full fire teams. The results of this you already know. The question is how you imagine it could be any other way?

That’s fair I guess :V

Welcome to fps games.

I know how you feel!

My teammate troubles consist of them teamkilling for a power weapon. Thanks to 343’s inconsistent booting system, I’m unable to do anything about it.
