How many times have you tried to switch grenades and ended up calling down ordnance you didn’t want?
I was just in a game on Settler. I wanted the beam rifle, but not while a warthog was driving by. I pressed the D-pad to switch to plasma grenades and ended up calling down a speed boost just as the warthog was driving by. Instead of killing the warthog with two plasmas I got killed. God, I hate that.
You guys should verify that what your posting actually makes sense. Recon and default and most (if not all) layouts have the same d-pad grenade switching.
Yeah it has happened to me a couple times and it is horrifying to get a needler in place of an incinerator cannon. I think yours was worse though. Yech. A beam rifle can help win a game.
It’s happened to me a handful of times, mostly when I wasn’t paying close attention to when I had an OD.
Wanting to switch grenades and accidentally called down Pulse grenades… totally meant to do that.

All of them use the D-pad to switch grenades so it doesn’t matter which controller configuration you use.
The worst thing about this case was that I thought I’d switched to plasma grenades when I hadn’t, so instead of sticking the warthog with two plasmas I bounced two frag grenades off it and then it killed me. And then when I respawned I had a speed boost waiting for me on the other side of the map, which someone on the enemy team stole. sigh
I’ve never had that one. I still get the OD i didn’t select often though. Tried switching a few controllers in case the dpad was too sensitive but nope it gives me something other then I selected.
Yes I’ve had this before too, switching grenades is second nature and the OD is never what you want. Although one time I did it the OD killed the warthog gunner, should have sent that to FotW, that was speed boost, damn hog rammed me afterwards too.

It only happens when I completely forget what I’m doing. Too used to default to switch to any other button setup. I wish they wouldn’t keep changing the button set up for every Halo. I loved Bumper Jumper in H3.
