Does anyone else HATE this type of players?

Ok, I understand if you prefer Slayer or just killing. That’s fine, I love Slayer too, it’s as classic Halo as you can get. Yet I hate these people who go into a CTF match or Assault and do NOTHING but weapon grab, and never assist getting the objective.

Like that A-Hole who will rush his -Yoink- to the Sniper for a few kills but wont even grab the bomb if it’s infront of him, or try to assist his team getting a flag or territory.

And don’t gimme that “Well he’s just helping you kill the enemy”. No it’s not, He can try to kill the enemy and get the bomb or flag or hill. Yet instead he’s too afraid to “DIE” because of his k/d ratio that doing the objective doesn’t matter.

Even worse is the ones with a mic. The ones who go “yea omg I got a double kill” or “omfg triple kill lol” or will act way to proud about killing a guy while the enemy is arming a bomb or just capped your flag.

And then when you say “Hey man I need help getting the flag” or “Hey man defend the base” they always, ALWAYS…ALWAYS will say one of 2 things

A-“It’s just a game -Yoink-”
or
B-“So what, I need kills”

If you want kills. Play Slayer. Or just do the game a favor and quit.

It is easy to see why people don’t help with objectives…doing the objective puts a big bulls-eye on you…it lowers your K/D ratio, where not helping raises it because the other team (in theory) is distracted by trying to get points & win. In regular slayer you never get that distraction factor.

…but yeah, it sucks.

Seriously, the “Im only here to get the power weapons/tank” kinda player is very frustrating. The worst is when you see that after the game, despite having these premium weapons, they get like 5 kills =/

Sometimes having a player dominate the other team by killing/spawn trapping/etc actually opens the door for those playing the objective.

I made a conscientious effort to run objective in the first few months of Reach’s life and you know what I got for my efforts?

Betrayals and lots of them by teammates as I was about to capture a flag or arm a bomb so said teammates could get credit for the flag cap/bomb arm and/or extend the length of matches.

I quickly came to the realisation that there were no real benefits to being an objective player and 99% of the population would rather use me as a distraction for cheap kills and possibly kill me in the process while stealing what little glory there was to be had actually trying to fulfil the objective of the gametype by scoring the flag/bomb they had betrayed me for a short distance from the cap/arm plate.

Then there was the stat padders, the types who’d rather play unlimited slayer game after game while camping their base. If my team of randoms had the upper hand I had betraying to look forward to if I attempted to end the game and put the other team out of their misery by capturing/arming the objective.

So now I practically never go for the objective and I don’t play any objective only playlists and always vote for slayer variants.

Yes, playing with randoms who play slayer rather than the objective when in objective game types is awful. They’re just boosting.

There is a solution. Don’t play with randoms any more.

Go to the recruiting forum, and read the ads from the various groups, communities, and clans. Find one that seems to suit you, be sure to find one that does not allow or condone boosting / farming and that also runs game nights.

Then join up with the one you like best.

When you play with a community that prohibits that kind of conduct you’ll be able to enjoy objective games because everyone on your team will be playing the objective.

There is a very simple answer to this problem - and that is to not display the k/d ratio to ANYONE. Remove it entirely; people are so afraid of having a negative kill/death as if actually means anything! I have a .93 and it’s slowly rising. I don’t care that it isn’t a solid one, nor would I care if someone told me ‘ZOMG! U have under 1?!?!?! U should quit u r so bad. My k/d is 5.5, im a h4lo god!’ Yeah you know what? It’s a game, the only person who cares about your k/d is yourself.

I play to win, and if I get a 10 kills and 30 deaths but win the game that’s the only thing that matters. Hell even if I had 10 kills and 100 deaths in a ctf game but scored all the flags that wouldn’t matter one bit! Maybe if everyone wasn’t so obsessed with the notion that higher kill/death is equal to skill and didn’t play for achievements we would have good multiplayer gameplay.

Yes! I hate that. I understand some players don’t like going for the objective, but it can get frustrating sometimes.

Agreed, OP.

Players who can’t wrap their tiny minds around objective game types are quite irksome.

I do both (unless I’m in multi team but then i normally have 2 other people with me so my team doesn’t care) but if i have a power weapon i won’t pick up the objective, cause if i die then it is a chance for the enemy to get the weapon and put my team on the back foot, until I’m out of ammo then you shouldn’t care cause if you used it properly then you should have at least 3 kills(rockets) or 5-7 kills(sniper) then whats 1 death

Mine is firmly at .7 and I am happy with that. I actually had someone say “If mine was that low, I’d kill myself.” He was also part of a group that would spend the whole time spawn trapping in Grifball to inflate it.

Winning alone barely matters to me, I just want to have fun, that’s what the game is there for, stats are just a bonus, there’s no need to be at each other’s throats over them, they’re just a cool way to show some things off, like theater.
the truth is, stats are just that, stats, it doesn’t show how good or bad a player actually is.

People who completely ignore the objective are a bit irritating, but it’s also completely understandable considering there is no real incentive to win in Reach.

I do not fully agree, i know it is annoying but players who do nothing but kill the enemy are helping advance the objective. by killing players on the other team they make it easier for the objective players on the team to achieve the objective. Another point is that the players who do this are usually lone wolves, and being a lone wolf most of the time myself i find it very difficult to help with the objective when i cant communicate with anyone…

…And that’s why I don’t play Objective gametypes.

I’m sorry that most of you don’t understand how to play Objective properly - no offense intended.

You only run the objective when the other team has enough player down AND you’re in the right position to play the objective.

Otherwise, you play the game like Slayer.

In CTF you are basically playing slayer until you get 3-4 of them down a once. Running a flag with 3-4 of your opponent alive is suicide and almost a guaranteed counter-cap.

I agree that its frustrating to be playing an objective based game with people who refuse to pick up the bomb/flag, but to be fair I would prefer someone with a power weapon to cover me rather than run into the enemy teams spawn with a sniper on his back.

Well being defensive and getting kill is ok. I do that best, Infact usually whenever I’m not on defense my team gets owned (not to brag).

However defense is fine. Yet when you start spawn camping the enemy and you have a 3:1 chance of getting the flag out of the base but they got for the easily 5:1 chance of getting a high K/D

also players who don’t take both warthogs at the start of a match in CTF/Assault or even Slayer

I mean really, Two Warthogs will destroy almost anything if they team up correctly, You have twice the fire power.

Infact it only takes 4 players to get into 2 hogs.

Allowing 1 tank, 1 revenant, 1 sniper, and 1 random

Well whenever I play as a full party in BTB we have one person go for the Banshee, we have a sniper, a person with the spartan laser or the rockets and we have the rest going around the map with the DMR. Yes, we get a lot of kills especially the person in the Banshee but we also manage to capture the objective without any problems whatsoever. Mind you this is in a full party so we are able to use teamwork and it doesn’t help if you are searching solo.
