For me, I pick my armor/hemet/visor based on looks and description. But with the visors, I feel there shouldn’t be a description at all. They are just different colors, why do they need a description? The color of the visor canonically should have no effect on the description. Does anyone else feel this way?
Edit: this is not a complaint to everyone to that thinks I’m complaining. It’s just a pet peeve of mine and I was wondering if anybody else wasn’t a fan of it. Sorry if it sounded like I was complaining.
I’ve noticed the descriptions, but don’t really pay much attention to them. When I change my armor, I tend to go for looks like you, the in-game rationale doesn’t matter to me in the slightest.
I’m more bothered that so many are almost identical, ala flood, ecto and connected. Also autumn and clockwork.

Some of them are just plain stupid and just make my friends and I cringe… they’re just that bad.

Seriously? This is the most asinine and petty thing I’ve ever seen someone complain about on these forums and Destiny’s forums and that is saying something. Its a little extra touch that a writer put in. It takes nothing away from the gameplay experience and is basically a footnote of information so why complain about it? Personally, I find it at least as interesting as a visor description can get, so while its not contributing a lot it certainly is taking away from anything. I’ll pick mine based on color and then I get to find out a little bit of information about this visor, end of story. Its such a small detail dude. Get over it and yourself.

Yes.
To OP- I like the descriptions. They are pretty much the only thing that makes them unique. Each visor has like six seperste variants for the same color.
Canonically, the Visors are actually different. They are kind of situational, but are mostly chosen based on the Spartan’s preferences, not on the mission he’s about to embark on.
However I liked Halo 4’s visor descriptions better. I liked how they said “VISR 4.__(insert number)”. I thought it did a better job connecting different customization options to the lore. I really liked that.

I wish they would have just gone for humor on the visors. The descriptions now aren’t that interesting.
