Does anyone actually like random weapon drop?

Its only a week old, and im already against this. Im not talking about ordinances (although i wish they werent “random”), im talking about the map-spawned weapons in the objective playlists.

Its annoying not being able to plan out your game or strategize before hand. Its also very boring that sitting still on a map now trumps traversing a map. In h3 and reach, map movement was promoted and benefited you with a chance at a powerweapon or power-up.

Plus, randomness is always bad in itself. Why should i get a sticky detonator and the other team gets rockets? Hardly fair. Im just asking for consistant, static timers on consistant, static weapons. Allow us once again to improve our mental game and improve our map control by giving us constant variables rather than randomness!

Plus, does anyone actually enjoy it the way it is? I miss having a reason to move around more and the consistency of gameplay.

I like it.

I love them, the worst thing about previous Halo titles IMO was the placed weapons. Actually now that I think about it, placed map weapons are my least favorite thing in any FPS. It’s a good change IMO.

Can you guys explain why? Other than saying “cause theres power weapon hogs!” because that’s your fault, you (as a player) can change that and are responsible for that.

Its kinda like complaining people are headshot noobs, rather than doing it yourself you say it should be removed.

(not saying your doing this, but if thats the argument your about to give, rethink it)

Im ok with the randomly placed weapons…but the fact that I can’t customize my ordinance, -1 to that.

I hate them. The other day I has having a really close slayer match. Both teams needed five kills til the other team was GIVEN a rocket launcher. It was a really good match before that.

Love them.

You no longer see idiots camping the sniper or rocket spawn for the entire game any more. People just go out to play and it gives everyone a chance, randomly, to get a pick up weapon.

I personally think that once one team gets over 500 points (or say 850 in BTB) though, they no longer come. That way you avoid a power weapon dropping to a team when a match is like 580-580.

I think having random drops makes things more interesting and requires players to stay on their toes to get those drops. Always having a rocket launcher sit on top of a hill is pretty stupid IMO. It simply encourages people to sit in the area all game. If it were up to me the only drops would be ordnance that players received from actual game play. Hell even a CS system would be great. Get kills, earn money, spend money on guns, repeat.

The fact that a player has to get used to the weapons dropped and be proficient in every weapon is a good thing about random weapon drops, but I prefer set weapons on a map.

i dont mind it, once i learn the maps properly and weapon locations i’ll be fine. plus the sticky detonator is awesome bro!

Both teams should get the exact same weapons at the exact same time. This can be implemented into random weapon spawns without ruining the concept.

so you don’t like arena shooters then? cause weapon placements is one of the characteristics… good change? so taking out a key feature in halo mp is good?

Your post is a typical “It’s the way it’s always been so it should stay that way”.

Having weapons in a fixed location on timers has both benefits and negatives. But 343i obviously felt, and many agree, that random drops are more beneficial to the game. If don’t agree then so be it. But using the age old adage of “It’s always been this way” is no argument at all for it being in the game.

I’m not a big fan of them. Creates a chaotic gameplay that seems to have no purpose.

I don’t like the argument “it has been that way so it should stay that way”. I am glad that 343 is trying to innovate for Halo 4 and try new things, even though I do not particularly like all of them. However, after saying that, I do not like the random drops. It adds more luck to the equation rather than skill or timing. Games like the older Halo games and Gears of War with placed weapons add timing and team work to get those weapons. In Halo 4 with the random drops, you don’t necessarily know where the weapons will be and usually don’t know what they will be. I prefer the old way personally.

you were also screwed in 3 and reach if the enemy had map control because of the controlled weapon placement.

I love it.

It does exactly what 343 said it would. It prevents those people who would literally just sit where a power weapon would spawn for an entire game just waiting for it.

It also creates an area of fighting. When everyone in the game sees a Sniper Rifle or Rocket Launcher hit the map, everyone goes for it. You then get a very intense little firefight over the weapon. To the winner goes the spoils.

Yup, arena shooters are just not my thing. I grew up on Counter-Strike and Battlefield so placed weapons, outside of vehicles, just seems crappy. Also “key features” need to be tweaked from time to time. If they had removed them you would not have ordnance or random drops. Plus at map start there are always your precious placed weapons in the same spot, try not to blow things out of proportion next time.
