So therefore it is not because MP is canon, but actually because of balancing issues. MP being canon has no bearing on that.

So have social playlists that allow you to use elites. And playlists that only allow elites and playlists where you can’t use elites. Invasion-type gamemodes. There’s a way to do it.

Would you mind looking at the first sentence to the biggest thread here? Just boils down to laziness is what it is.

That being said, there’s nothing wrong with including the multiplayer in the main story.

No you won’t. People who werent MLG players were still angry about Elites in multiplayer. In game models should never have different hitboxes, especially for a game that is so focused on everyone having equal opportunity.
Different game modes are fine, but they’ll still be complained about as unfair for one side.

Go look at the old Halo 3 forums. They’re all still up. I bet you won’t find one single complaint about elites in multiplayer. Were there probably a few people? Sure. But I doubt there were that many people. I haven’t even heard of people complaining about elites being in multiplayer until just a few years ago.
If we’re so concerned about balance, why not just make every map completely symmetrical? Take out map pickups because the sniper might be a couple meters closer to one team’s spawn? There’s needs to be a line between balance and just taking the fun out of something.

It’s not likely the fact its ‘canon’ or not but rather is a simulation. But yes I don’t like or want it to be a canon or a simulation. After all what purpose does any of the simulations serve beyond slayer and firefight. Your not going to be stealing the innies flag after all. Not to mention 343i ignore their own canon MP by omitting playable elites. Who cares whether or not your racing warthogs or knee deep in hunter goo it’s for fun not stats and oh it’s canon.

The ONLY thing wrong with this is that there aren’t playable elites, but that as a possibility of changing as there are.locations where elites are participating in war games with spartans

This is simply not true the reason that you posted are basic gameplay design choices not because the story limited it overall the multiplayer being Canon does not hurt anything but just adds to the experience.

As of Halo 4, the mulitplayer is cannon now. Everything is supposedly a simulation in the war games bay on the Infinity. I honestly think this was a stupid idea, yes it has no real effect but I still find it upsetting now you can no longer play as a Sangheili

Would you please look at the first sentence of a four year old thread that happens to currently be the biggest tread.
How to mask a “I want playable elites!” thread as another thread in three easy steps!

I’m sorry but that’s does not prove anything that’s just the fans opinion there is no proof of 343 saying that we remove the elites because our Cannon doesn’t allow it.
I thought it was interesting at first but nothing has come of it and it is nothing more than a gimmick right now. Whats the point if its canon if they don’t do anything with it, I mean we still don’t have playable elites.
No issue so long as it doesn’t change game mechanics.
@those arguing elites: cannon says they do work with the unsc, so it’s quite stupid to then say cannon is what’s stopping them from being played, not to mention 343 have added crap that doesn’t fit cannon anyways. It all boils down to 343 wanting to do it, not some fake story that a game follows.
I think part of the whole point of it was to allow the community to add their own theories or immersion to be part of it. Imagine if another machinima as popular as RvB or like the H3 machinimas like Spriggs or Arby & the Chief popped up and could theoretically be canon. But…

This is overall how I feel now.

Prioritize fun over balance. Interesting. I’ll keep this in mind next time we talk about sprint or something that you personally don’t like.
Me? I’d prefer something like sprint over random models that have completely different hitboxes than Spartans.
Funny enough, all I did was go to Bungie.net, search “Elites” in Halo 3 forums, and I see elite vs spartan forums. At least back in Halo 3 days, the community was larger, less hardcore. I may not have been on the forums, but everyone used mics back then, and sure enough i met many players who hated Elites in multiplayer. Next time you “bet” someone they won’t find “one single complaint”, maybe Check the link first.
I don’t mind the multiplayer being canon, as long as it doesn’t detract from the experience. I’d prefer it not to be bound to canon, as it would allow for more freedom, creativity, and a more pleasant experience.
I wouldn’t mind if the explanation for it wasn’t so boring and trite. A simulation? I know it’s the only way for it to make “sense”, but not only does it raise even more questions, it also means that all the combat and fighting you do is ultimately meaningless, because it’s not like you’re fighting for something in the meatspace.

How does that make combat meaningless? You’re still killing someone, only now instead of dying they respawn. You can go all out in a simulation and because of that you can grow stronger.

I never said it was an unfixable balance issue. The purpose of my comments were to clear the misconception that Elites are no longer playable due to MP becoming canon.
