Honestly I don’t really mind. I’d rather have a great multiplayer that everyone’s happy with than a multiplayer that 343 put limits on to keep it canon :\
No, I don’t care for it being canon.
It is fun to think about, but it is frustrating, no matter how you veiw it. The reason is that players can’t revive eachother, so it’s instant death. If players could revive a fallen teammate, than it would be more enjoyable.

Maybe to you it doesnt matter probably because your being unbiased but by making the MM canon, it restricts what can be and so 343 decides by doing exactly that and thus removing features that fans have been wanting back in the series. They are lazy and incompetent in my eyes.
I don’t really care, it’s just Multiplayer it is supposed to have fun and play with others, not to have sense in the story, but if they did MP cannon they should at least respect the lore and bring back playable elites as well as invasion.

Care to provide proof to the claim that 343i removed features solely based on MP being canon?

Playable Elites dude.

Where has 343i stated that they removed Elites because of canon? Because on the contrary, they’ve stated Elites train with Spartans

Unfortunately yes. Which creates arguments that are in favor of bad game mechanics because “Spartans should be able to blah blah blah”. Like when people say it “makes sense” you should be able to sprint because it’s realistic. Like a videogame set 500 years in the future has to makes sense.

So, if that is so then where are they in Halo 4 and Halo 5?

Training with Spartans at Anvil Station. They could easily be part of MP. So there is still no proof anything has been removed due to MP being canon.
I only care if it’s cool
MP is Cannon? News to me.
Nope it’s -Yoink-. In my eyes the MP from H2 and H3 will always be superior to anything 343 can give because it wasn’t based on canon. H5 benefits from higher frame rate and resolution and that’s about it. As far as map design and content, it sucks!!!

What makes things now inferior because it’s canon? The transition has really been 343i saying, “Hey, MP is officially in the universe now. Carry on as you were.” It’s not like they went through radical changes because of the canonizing of MP.
I’ve never thought of the multiplayer as needing to be canon- the idea is team-play. If you’re looking for canon, perhaps you should play CO-OP Campaign.

I’m basically saying the focus of 343s MP efforts (including canonized MP) have been a detriment to Halos MP. It could have been handled differently, but they did -Yoink- their way, and in my humble opinion it sucks. The “carry on as you were” option got thrown out because 343 made that impossible. They have yet to truly impress me with anything they have done. If making MP canon means stealing game mechanics and changing EVERYTHING else from what it used to be then it’s still a step back. And it extends into the rest of the game as well.
Short of the long is Bungie did it better, on all fronts. Canonizing MP was the conduit 343 used to wreck everything good about Halos previuos MP.

The bolded is what I’m focusing on, because MP becoming canon has not hinged on that. I have yet to see, anywhere, that 343i has stated that they either outright removed, or refuse to add something into MP simply because they feel it wouldn’t work in the lore.
Opinions on the gameplay side of MP with how Bungie vs 343i do it is different than what I’m focusing on about MP being limited primarily because of it being canon.

Fair enough. To me the situation seems related even though in reality it’s probably just the fact the 343 is a completely different Dev then Bungie. The MP experience delivered by Bungie was grossly consistent up to Reach (barring armor abilities). Map design, weapons, art, sound, feel, the whole picture. And none of it was directly based on canon.
Then 343 comes in and stirs the -Yoink- out of the pot. It doesn’t really have any thing to do with the canon. It’s just a front for 343 to change -Yoink- around, call it canon, and have the majority of the player base accept it because now its canon. It’s purely my perspective but I think that’s basically how it panned out. Wether or not it’s canon is irrelevant (to me). What really stands out is the gameplay.
