I noticed that the storm rifle is the only starting gun in the game that doesn’t have a weapon skin. I figured that this was because its unpopular and useless once ammo runs out. Does anybody actually use it in a loadout? I don’t see it very often in multiplayer
I think there is a skin for it, and actualy its very good. It sucks taking down shields, but it kills super fast unshielded.
Yes, its incredibly underpowered though. AR is stronger and all Forerunner weapons are OP
i’m 99.9 percent sure there is no skin for it. i searched the web high and low and found nothing. it is the only primary weapon that didn’t get the treatment
Yes, I use it mostly all the time for my invisible class. Its really underpowered and underrated though…
I just want my Plasma Repeater back. 
It’s pretty dreadful and hideously generic looking. It also usurped the Plasma rifle’s position unnecessarily when the Plasma rifle could simply have been strengthened.
I’m not sure about fire rates, but they both appear to take down the same amount of shield with one shot, the Storm Rifle and AR. So yah, Storm Rifle is terribly underrated and under powered as it totally goes against the whole “plasma being able to take out shields faster than conventional bullets” thing. Though it does do a generous amount of unshielded damage, which is strange for a plasma weapon.

I have well over 500 kills with it and it is my favorite weapon.
I always use it for Regicide.
Ive seen a slight increase in its use but I cant get the hang of it myself. From what I can tell its range is better then the AR and needs to be used in short bursts so its not that its useless it just has a skill gap. It doesnt have a skin and Im not sure why. The br and ar have 2 skins each and evreything else has one except the storm.
I use it alongside the Carbine for my Covenant loadout. It’s better than the AR up close, but it burns through ammo fast, and refills are scarce since few people use. Not as much of a problem if you have the Ammo support upgrade, but I use that on all of my loadouts, so…
It’s one of the most fun guns to use in my opinion due to the challenge. It can take down shields pretty quickly and is good at weakening multiple targets fast. But to finish people off it helps if you have a Magnum as a secondary (for head shots).
Overall it’s well suited to a team support weapon when you know your teammates are mostly using precision weapons like DMR/BR and can finish off people you weaken in case you can’t get close enough for the kill.
I hope they add a skin for it at some point.
It is a beast at scoring assist.
In my opinion it is very good worth using in CQC situations but it is highly under used i have only seen two people in matchmaking as well as myself use it
I have seen 1 player in my entire Halo 4 experiance using it. Maybe 2.
Sorry Storm Rifle.
I really enjoy using the storm rifle with a thruster pack class. The reason it fits so well with that armor ability is because the gun cools even during thruster pack’s animation. In addition, it’s a close quarters class, because there’s not a whole lot of good that thruster pack does far away. Basically, I can go toe-to-toe with just about any AR wielder and win, because I don’t have to reload. As for precision weapons, I have about equal sucess with the Storm Rifle and Assault Rifle.
I use it from time to time. It’s a cool gun.
It’s OP when I use it
I’m currently finding the Storm Rifle to be the perfect Automatic balance between power and range, as it stands for Automatics it’s like this:
AR - Hitscan, medium spread, slowest killtime overall.
SR - Projectile, Medium Spread, middle killtime overall.
FS - Progectile, Large Spread, fastest killtime overall.
I wouldn’t recommend to anyone to use an Automatic as a Primary weapon though. They are most effective with Firepower as Secondaries.
I find it less useful overall than Dual Plasma Rifles in Halo 3 (which were secretly AMAZING). But it definitely feels much more effective than Reach’s Plasma Repeater, or the Reach Plasma Rifle.
I’d say it’s about on par with the Halo CE Plasma Rifle.
I can also attest to seeing it in less than 10 of the 500+ games I’ve played haha.
However this thread makes me at least to want to try it, it could definitely be fun to use.
It’s a great weapon. Whenever I don’t have to go up against a sweaty team, I run it on Adrift and Abandon. It works well when paired with the Magnum.
