Does anybody else just get constantly matched with really bad players?

As I said, at some point this could fix the issue as having 10 Tour 1 accounts in the same IP/MAC address could be considered as an anomaly. Thus resulting in a MAC ban for Xbox players. For PC players this could be addressed in a different way (I’m not a 343 employee so I guess they could have a better idea for that).

What if new accounts have to play like 10 campaign missions first? (In order to get matched with anyone else in multiplayer). Or maybe they could play only FFA games /Firefight for the first 10 matches, so they could play team gamemodes. (This could be time consuming for smurfs).

Due to low population in my region I pretty much only search 4v4 Social H3.

Yes, I’m in full agreement. Would love to reduce toxicity. Wish they’d also finally turn off friendly damage.

I play 4v4 H3 solo. About half the time you’ll be up against teams. About 30 percent of the time you’ll be against smurfs manipulating matchmaking to team with better players. The last 20 percent of matches will be a nice balance with close games. That’s where the game is at at this point due to the population. If i ever get a day off work and can play putside of prime-time hours( Central U.S. evenings), then i end up in a constant loop with and against the same handful of people. The game just isnt active as it was even 2 years ago. You’re on a sinking ship thats going to keep trending downward with playercount/balanced games.

If you dont play with people, you’re near guaranteed to end up with a mix of the following.

  1. The AFK
  2. The Griefer
  3. The Gamepass Gary that just downloaded Halo
  4. The Quitter
  5. (On rare occasion) The Decent Person

4v4 auto slayer is seemingly pretty low in all the games, it can take 5+ minutes to get in a game on a US server, I’m not fully convinced it’s a population problem there were 3700 players on steam playing about 40 minutes ago vs Halo Infinite which had 3900 players about 40 minutes ago so the population size at least on PC is roughly the same and that’s not including consoles or windows store. Both games have crossplay, there shouldn’t be much difference if you have most the games checked off.

I think the matchmaking system is just broken however they have it set up it’s either looking for stuff it shouldn’t prioritize as hard (region, ELO, rank whatever) or there’s a technical problem that’s causing it to bog and just generally have slow search times but population shouldn’t be a problem if the numbers are nearly identical to Infinite.

If it makes you feel better OP, just had my first match of the evening. 4v4 Headhunter on Reach CE playlist.

Me, two Tour 1s, and a Tour 3 vs a group of Tour 7s. what are the odds, right?

1 of the Tour 1’s was AFK until they quit. The other tour 1 quit too, and me and the other guy lost a 4v2. so its not just you getting paired with bad players. I’d take up FFA Pandas offer, you’ll have a better chance of not having those bad types of games with a friend or two playing with you.

Which game in the collection are you playing? Because this doesn’t appear to happen in Reach. I’ve seen multiple people constantly spawn grenade themselves to death over and over and never get kicked for it, only to find myself matched with them again and again in subsequent games. The only time I see suicide become a reason why someone is booted is if they happen to betray someone at the same time they kill themselves (such as with a rocket), and it’s their second infringement for the match.

It’s fine when it comes to Reach. I find games pretty fast (less than a minute) and my settings are quite restrictive too. Granted it’s not always auto slayer, but it still appears quite often under the same circumstances.

I must be searching at the wrong times of the day granted Reach seems to be the most populated out of most the games, probably because it’s the base game that comes with MCC now, it will still take me 5+ minutes to get in a game.

SBMM is a plague on the gaming industry and has no place in social. I wasn’t 100% sure if it was in MCC but that explains alot.

I actually got a chuckle out of ‘gamepass gary’

Thank you too all who replied to this post, it is really nice to know I’m not crazy.

Yes! I frequently get matched with people who kick my butt!

This and the new constant sweatyness is why i wont bother with any more MCC PvP MP. I rather play the broken 2014 MCC without all the hidden SBMM and MMR garbage

MCC always had SBMM and MMR, that hasn’t changed. It’s just the playerbase that has shrunk.

Thats not correct.
When they started adding things again they changed/added stuff to the matchmaking systems.

Stop using this population excuse.

The halo franchise has had SBMM since Halo 2 (Halo CE was the only one without it). MCC has always had SBMM.

Indeed, it’s pretty difficult making balanced games due to the low population. And it gets way more difficult if some of these players use smurf accounts. The only thing I recommend you is playing team game modes with your friends, and avoid random players on your team.

I guess you don’t wanna wait 40 minutes per match if you want an “even” match.
