I haven’t posted on here in a long time mainly because I feel my complaints fall on deaf ears and this site is awful but seriously I am about two steps away from outright quitting the Halo series and never coming back. It seems like every game I play no mater what gamemode I end up with quitters, trolls, teamkillers, or players that are just generally really bad on my team all while the other team seems to be constantly working together and dominates the entire match. It never used to be like this but I have noticed since about 2021 it has been like this and there is no escaping it. Some games are worse than others with Reach, H2 4v4, and Halo 3 being the worst but this just makes the game unenjoyable.
I’m not talking about ranked at all mind you just social playlists…why is this? Does anyone else get this experience. I find myself quitting far more matches than I’d like (I used to never quit for any reason ever but now I just feel irritated so much so to the point when the score looks like this:
Glad to hear you’re playing MCC in 2022. Its great being able to enjoy the Halo legacy online still!
The easy answer to this is to group with other people. There aren’t enough players to keep players appropriately separated in their respective skill buckets (at least, it doesn’t seem like there is!).
Feel free to add me, GT is the same as forum name (The FFA Panda) and I’d be happy to play together sometime.
Yup I get this a decent amount where I’ll sometimes drop 30-40 kills and my team is going 2, 3, maybe 5 and 10+ deaths each meanwhile the enemy team is pretty close in kills with each other. I don’t know what kind of matchmaking system is in the game but it’s definitely not very balanced
its not the matchmaking, its the population. some games(Halo 2 Big Team for example), you can’t even find a match unless one of the full stack teams is also searching.
during the pandemic shutdown, id run into different people all the time. now the populations gotten pretty low and I always see the same groups.
You do know that you are complaining that there is no SBMM right? Since you say that both the individual skill gaps are enormous and the teams are not balanced.
The problem is just that the playerbase is just so small that SBMM can’t do anything anymore. This is why you’re being put with weak players against strong premade teams, because that is the only way to even get a match in the first place, since there are no other players available.
It is there, but it can’t do anything if it doesn’t have enough players to pick from. The playerbase is just to low.
The only fix would be to increase the playerbase…
I feel your pain, its pretty rough atm. I remember Halo 3 on Xbox 360 having like the same amount of players and the lobbies were still fun and playable. Idk why MCC cant manage this. Apparently most people on MCC are either afk or they have their eyeballs touching the monitor. The people who love the game and want to play laid back and just want to win games with gun skill / teamplay are outnumbered I think. People use the most weird and random tactics to win games nowadays.
That’s what I was talking before in other threads. Grouping together with players you know will avoid getting matched with trolls or afkers on your team.
Yesterday I was in a match where two of my teammates refused to play the game (and they mentioned in the chat), so they went AFK. Of course I reported them for such unsporting behavior.
Then in another match, on the enemy team, 3 out of 4 players were commiting suicide until they got kicked and banned (yup, commiting suicide multiple times is an auto-ban). So yeah, we ended up winning the game 50 to -8.
It’s not SBMM they have to fix, it’s the playerbase and the low population. There can be trolls and/or afkers no matter which rank they’re.
What if 343 implements an in-game reputation system. For example, if a player who betrays, quits a lot, or goes AFK several times, then this player would get matched with other players with the same characteristics. And maybe they could recover their reputation by not doing that bs after 5 or 10 matchmade games. (Or maybe after a specific amount of time).
I know the population is low as mentioned before, but no one (I repeat, no one) wants to play with those players, and with this reputation system they could start playing as it is suppose to be (and they could be aware of that penalty if they do that bs several times).
There are smurfs in the current system anyways. And If that’s the case, then all their smurf account would have a bad reputation as well if they do that BS. And to recover their reputation they would play like 5 consecutive matches without doing that bs. And at some point this could fix the issue with the smurf accounts as they would be forced to recover their reputation in each of those accounts, which could be time consuming for them.
I think that 343 should develop a system that can do this automatically - they ought to have data of repeat behavior. It would need to be particularly fine tuned, but I’ve had multiple players who I will run into for hours on end that never once touch their controller. That should be a very easy ban.
It takes about 2 minutes to make a fresh account. Those smurfs wouldnt bother building up the positive rep system. Just send the account to the graveyard and spin up a new one.
Maybe they could do the rep system based in hardware ID instead of account. Sure, the pc guys can just spoof their ID, but itd at least cut down on the ones doing it on xbox.
