Does 343 need a restructure for their writing team

After the controversal plot in Halo 5 do you think they need to demote or restructure the writing team now I won’t call out their names because I’ll get banned and it’s not nice but what do you think do you think they need one?

I would be okay with it. I though Halo 5’s story was decent, but the lead writer didn’t seem to be the right guy for the job.

Halo 5’s story made enough sense to make me no longer give a sh*t halfway through. Yes, 343 should fire their writers, and get better ones.

Halo 5 had a good premise, but lacked direction, lacked characterisation of Blue Team, had poor pacing and didn’t have a great sense of a beginning, middle and end.

New writers please. Guys who did the level design on Swords of Sanghelios need a promotion.

I think it’s completely irrelevant because you have zero influence on what will happen.

I think there’s one of two issues: either the writers really screwed the pooch on this game, or the staff cut everything because they were behind schedule on everything. I’m leaning towards a rush job because those “exploration” missions scream “tight production schedule” leading to whatever they were supposed to be being left on the cutting room floor. I also feel like either some of the designers or some suits told them to build missions because they had some really cool idea about where they should go rather than letting a story dictate where it goes and what happens. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the idea of joining in on the last death throes of the Covenant with the Arbiter, but I don’t think they had the time to fully realize it in the way that they intended.

It’s because of people like you that we keep getting sh*t on by developers. If you don’t voice your opinion, if you’re okay with garbage, you’re going to get more garbage.

Respectfully, I disagree.

It’s because of people like OP making silly posts with absolutely zero constructive criticism. Rude posts calling for replacement of influential staff members, while trying to rally others to agree with him, is not voicing an opinion. If your community is going to give you the kind of negative, shallow feedback that is flooding the boards right now, would you want to give them a better game? Really?

Not to mention, the real reason gamers are getting pooped on by devs is because people keep pre-ordering games and season passes which gives the company money for sales before the game is even finished and released. If you want a better game, make them work for it until completion, not a year to six months ahead of time.

I think 343i in general should be restructured. Flush out the old employees and bring in a competent team of programmers, composers and writers. The current team isn’t doing it for me and judging by Halo 4, 5 and the MCC, isn’t doing it for a lot of others either.

Nope seeing as Halo 5 is hands down the best Halo game do date I think they are doing just fine. And yes, I have played Halo 1-4, ODST, etc numerous times. The campaign was outstanding. So glad Bungie is gone. Destiny is a complete failure on every conceivable level. 343 has taken Halo to another level.

I respect your opinion, but I have to strongly disagree.
in my opinion it is the weakest campaign in any of the halos.

I thought he meant in the game. We spent most of the time watching action cutscenes and not playing them.

Do you know Why the hell the Blue team lacks characterisation? Because 343 prefers to introduce the blue team with an animation that is sold separately from the game.
This is unbelievable! The blue team has important characters that Interact with Chief throughout the game and an apropriate introduction should have been done.
These guys are out of this world - in a bad way.

They need Jospeh Staten. As for restructuring, the only thing that needs restructuring is their “pro” team.

Nope.

nope, story was solid. They have A LOT to work on though. Mostly just the narrative and diologue

The narrative was poor. I would love to see what the original designs for those ‘exploration’ missions were. It’s obvious that they were meant to be more in-depth but were cut due to restraints, either monetary or time.

Considering the guy who was lead writer on Halo 5 was also lead writer on Spartan Ops - yes, that person needs replacing or a demotion to a more junior position in the writing team.

something happened between 4 and 5 cause story structure of 5 was wacky.

Just narrative and dialogue? That’s the writer’s entire job. No writer is creating the story arc. That’s the studio heads.

The campaign is great. Thats not where any issue is with the game. the story has stuff from just about every previous game. ITs got covenent, Its got the Arbitor, Its got Mantises. Its got Prometheans. The story is good and leaves you guessing where they are going with 6. I really don’t see how anybody can complain about it.
