Does 343 manipulate the challenges?

I’ve had just about enough.
1 out of 10 games is Odball. Fine.
As soon as i get a stronghold challenge “win 3 stronghold games”, the chance of odball mysteriously increases to 5 games in a row. This is followed by CTF and then Slayer.
I am currently at the point that I leave games as soon as I see that it is not stronghold.
After about 10 abandoned games I found a stronghold match, we lose big because my team mates have other goals than winning. (i dont blame them)

This just can’t be a coincidence, the same thing happens to me with almost all challenges, “kill opponents with the bulldog”, I just can’t find a map and game mode with a bulldog anymore.

“Conquer 3 flags”, CTF no longer exists in my game.

Feel free to judge me, normally I’m not a quitter, but the game just frustrates me, the only question now is, do I get banned first and return to MCC or do I find a Stronghold game?

They most likely do, if not you wouldn’t be as pressed to buy challenge swaps in the store.

The whole game is designed to make money, don’t forget that.

Nothing you can do but pray that RNG likes you, I’m afraid.

Also, quitting isn’t just something to be judged by. It can ruin the game experience for the players on your team, and is generally an uncool thing to do.

Well, yes quiting is bad, but not that bad because a bot replaces me and seconds later he is replaced by a real player shortly after the start of the game.
Not trying to justify my actions but they should lower bann times and add a timer for a bann (im not playing ranked)

More palatable than before maybe, but I digress.

A ban timer would indeed be useful. I haven’t been banned myself and don’t plan to be, but the lack of one sounds strange to me.

They probably do. It happens to me a lot.

As long as you don’t have a source for this it’s yoink. I had never problems with Mode related challenges…

Sources:

  • Microsoft is a company that’s sole purpose is to make money, the same as every company in the capitalist world
  • Common sense

That’s not really evidence though.

I had a play 3 slayer game challenge and while yes the first two games weren’t slayer, i then managed to get 3 in a row.

Are you saying that microsoft loves me more than other posters?

Sure and Bill Gates developed microchips and put them into covid vaccine.

Sourcecode would be a source.

Yeah sure, defend 343 with your life.

I’m sure as heck not defending 343 with my life. I just don’t support random conspiracy theories.

RNG is RNG. Every game that has it usually has some thread crop up claiming the evil corporation is manipulating it so you don’t get it.

A truly random system isn’t predictable. There’s like what 4 or 5 modes in quick play? Just because its a 20-25% chance of getting that mode, doesn’t mean its going to happen 1/4 or 1/5 of the time, especially with a small sample size of a 20 matches.

I like to think they wouldn’t as it would be so easily provable if they did which would be a dumb PR move.

Not every gametype has equal split as some playlists have more slayer (quickplay for example) and we also don’t know knows if there are any weightings behind the maps and gametypes. E.g big team has 4 gametypes, but they might not all be 25%.

It’s like gamblers fallacy where we believe because we get so much of one we must then get the thing we need. The chance never increases, we just focus on the fact the result we fact isn’t coming in.

Not to mention in quickplay there is like over 50% of combinations as Slayer. I’ve never seen One Flag yet and I’m sure most other people won’t have either.

I know chances pretty well, i shiny hunt pokemons 1:8192, lol.
But there are many many threads with the same feeling.
Dont forget, 343 wants you to buy challenge swaps, otherwise it wouldnt be in the shop.
Dont just call it conspiracy theories because big companies, especially when they want to make money off f2p games have psychologists and experts on board.

There’s a few people encountering it. If it was a normal function, everyone would be encountering it. Unless you think 343 has an extra layer of protection where they only screw over some players.

I just rolled a 4 sided die 20 times its results were:
1x3
2x8
3x3
4x6

Let’s say Oddball is 3. Do you think my die is rigged against the number 3 (and 1 for that matter)?

Randomness can be unfair, it happens.

That’s not what anyone is saying. Good strawman though.

Again, easy to tell with common sense.

Isn’t it like Murphy’s law or something. In every RNG I have been, going for something I don’t see it. Soon as I get it, get overloaded with it everywhere.

As someone who plays 40K, RNG is a crazy thing.

I’d say it’s plausible, but it’s probably more probable that people are encountering the gamblers fallacy and unlucky RNG. This is coming from someone who spent hours just last night trying to get strongholds for a challenge. Gosh it was frustrating, and my mind wanted to convince me something was wrong, but that doesn’t mean my mind was right, see the gamblers fallacy.
