So someone correct me if I’m wrong, but Halo 5 runs on dedicated servers. Microsoft’s Azure servers if I recall. So 343 doesn’t own those and possibly has no control over those at all. A friend had a theory: Is it possible that Halo 5 simply doesn’t have the quantity of servers allocated to the game that it had months ago? Could that explain the recent issues? Does 343 have a set amount of server space/resources available from Microsoft and are they redirecting those resources to Halo Wars 2’s upcoming launch? Also the following article says 343 has TONS of telemetry data available about matchmaking in Halo 5. After reading the article, why is 343 asking us to help them isolate problems? Are they caught between a rock and a hard place and have to maintain the idea that there is a server problem, when really they’ve just downsized halo 5? Not a complaint thread, just looking for answers.
Halo 5 uses Log Analytics in Microsoft Azure for Operational Intelligence
This seems like your last locked thread worded in a different manner.
Yes 343 have a set space, and most likely those servers are also used for other things and they plan out how many will be used for what.
Halo is a Microsoft games and 343 just works on it. So it would probably be on Microsofts end
Well I wanted to have more of a discussion instead of just griping so I though I’d soften it up a bit. So we are all giving 343 grief over these servers, when there possibly isn’t even a real problem. At least not a problem that they didn’t anticipate. Is it possible they cut too deep, causing these problems for the remaining players of Halo 5? Of course they wouldn’t want to admit that some of these problems were self inflicted (by either them or microsoft), but if that scenario is true, they could roll back some changes and cure some issues maybe? Could TMCC’s failure also be linked to just simply not having the network resources they needed? If any of that is true, then the “we are working on it” line is deceptive to say the least.
It’s all in the MS family. MS servers, MS subsiduary. Not sure how responsive MS is to issues, or the particulars of the server agreement, or what key performance indicators are used to measure quality of service. Since no one here will know, not sure the value of the discussion.

No one here knows anything and 343 rarely responds, so technically there is no value in the whole forum, but we have to vent somewhere. My point is that if these server issues are due to having less dedicated servers, then we deserve to know so we can just move on. Honestly if the current state of the game is what it will always be, I won’t quit entirely but halo 5 definitely won’t be my primary game. If it’s a problem they intend to fix, that’s great. I hope they do. They should understand that people who slogged through TMCC “we will fix it next update, we promise” debacle have no patience for sloppy servers from 343.
