I don’t see any substantial surprise bonuses coming with S2. It appears that they’ll do intermittent updates throughout the season unlocking cosmetics for cross-core use one piece at a time, which will be a very welcome drip-feed improvement. The S2 Battle Pass and the few new maps will provide some incentive to grind away for another month or two for the Halo faithful, too, which is also good.
But as for whether there’s really enough “oomph” in Season 2 to radically revitalize Infinite and bring things back to the player counts we saw in the first month or two after launch? There’s just not enough here to accomplish that, IMO. And if there were more they were adding, I would think they’d be shouting it from the rooftops in a bid to establish some hype rather than squirreling it away as a surprise.

The only thing they could drop which would be a real serious surprise would be the certain affinity game mode. The only reason I even think there’s a sliver of hope for that is it’s really hush hush and we know it exists, not to mention who runs Certain Affinity. I could see them dropping this but I think it’s more likely that season 2 is extended to 6 months first, maybe this gets sprinkled in around 3 months into S2

Not to sound like a grumpy old man about it but, 1. they’ve said a lot of things, and 2. this is coming from the same people who view 2 shoulder pads as separate items to unlock. Also, the same people who think unlocking the same emblem 5 times = 5 unique cosmetic customization rewards (ie. armor, weapon, vehicle, nameplate, backdrop). My hope and goodwill has been exhausted.
12 emblems (if used 5 times) will make up 60 rewards in the new pass

- 10 items are in a kit, we will likely re-unlock those same items again (to use outside the kit) unless they want to charge us for the best pieces separately in the store - lets just hope that doesn’t happen- assume 30

3 chest pieces
4 (in their eyes) shoulder pad rewards -2 sets-

If I just leave it at that, the total amount of bolded rewards comes to 193 “Unique rewards” to unlock in the battle pass. Most are duplicates, weapon charms/boosts/swaps are left out and in some ways I think I was more generous than season 1’s pass.
Not to beat a dead horse but the fact that they cant even show a 20 second clip of season 2 without accidentally showing at least 1 item that will be in the store only further illustrates my point. (which is, it’s gonna be wack)

I’ll tell you what, I think next year for co-op as well. I bet it’s a lot harder to implement than they thought, especially for xb1

They seem to be teasing a Battle Royal or Battle Royal like game…
Certain Affinity is definitely a nice surpris-ish. Knowing that their relationship is strengthened and deeper, I believe is how it was put.

What I think will release with S2
-2 maps, maybe a third surprise map
-new modes, added like KotH and that BR lite that was accidentally hidden-released, Team Slayer specific playlist removed. Never served a real purpose lol
-ffa Ranked
-recurring fracture as infection maybe? with full time infection in S3
-Start of desync fixes, not fully fixed but a good step

surprise.
Ok yeah. It will be, the current batch of 18 month contractors workin on the game will have their terms ending, While 343i scramble to replace these positions. They will simultaneously announce season 2 is regrettably being delayed by another 3 months before going dark for a month or more. Creating the next content drought, creating a hungry player base who despite their complaints- eat up any tidbit of information given the way a man lost in the desert feels when finding an Oasis or drop of water.

Just watched another know YT Halo guy state Battle Royal confirmed. Certain Affinity, been in progress for 2 years, basically finished.
Boom! Time to party *air horns n stuff and other various party noises.
Not a direct S2 surprise but I’ll take it! Can’t wait to play all the Halos Modes Games N’ Things.
After digging into some stuff in waypoint, yes I think its possible, just likely not in the way most people are thinking about. Excited to check out those new maps tho.
