Ok before any of you start bashing me or a mod locks this thread hear me out. Does 343i really care about the Halo series or is all they want is money. It’s pretty obvious that no matter who went on to make the next Halo game they would be getting a lot a money from the the large amount of Halo fans. So just think about it 343i was hiring people to join them to make the new Halo trilogy so really everyone would want to join 343i because Halo is one of the best selling game franchises ever, who wouldn’t want to join them?
So that brings me back to the question. Do they care? Or is all they want is money. Now dont get me wrong I think Halo 4s campaign is going to be amazing they have a lot of talented story tellers behind them.
As for the multiplayer I’m really starting to get annoyed. I’m not going to name that horrible game on here but everyone knows what I’ll be talking about I hope. Now 343i says that Halo is “evolving” but is completely ripping off a game and just reusing all of their games features which have been repeated over and over again in their game series and in many others really evolving? No. It’s pretty obvious 343i just wants to attract all of the “other games” players to make more money simple as that. Now it may still feel like Halo with kill times not being like “the other game”, no ADS, faster movement speeds, higher jump heights, and vehicles but Halo use to have a whole lot of differences from “the other game”. Now we have instant respawns, killcams, jump in\out playlists, loadouts, killstreaks, weapon skins, perks, etc. Adding these things is not evolving when they’ve all be repeated many times. Halo was always different from other games. It was an arena shooter not an arcade shooter. Why change that if you really love Halo you wouldn’t change it from what it is.
The thing is a lot of “the other games” fans are people that pay no attention to video games and just play it once and a while to kill time. If Halo is taking more of their ideas and just being more like that game than what the hell would be the point of me buying that game when I can just continue playing a game I already know. If you like these changes you ARE a casual gamer and not a true Halo vet because if you were you would know what Halo is meant to be and know that Halo is about balance. Anyone who likes imbalance is also a casual gamer so they don’t care how many kills or deaths they get. The casual gamers don’t care that all of these changes are just going to make the better players better but o wait you don’t care about anything.
I tried my best to not make this a rant but I am just stating facts just so you know. And casual gamers are wrecking Halo because no matter what 343 throws in the game you don’t care cause you just want to play even if it’s incredibly imbalanced you don’t give a damn.
I know I won’t get any support on this thread because it doesn’t seem like there are any vets left on the site.
343 cares about halo. They spent three long years as game developers pouring their heart and soul into the game. What they don’t care about is the less than 100 people on the forums who are not game developers but insist on how Halo 4 should be.
Borrowing ideas is not “ripping off.” Halo 4 has things in it that are similar to Call of Duty but are not exactly the same. They have a Halo twist on them. Call of Duty has also copied Halo numerous times but that’s because a good idea is a good idea. If nobody ever said “Hey that’s a good idea, how can I implement that into my game” then there would be no progress. There would only be one racing game, there would only be one FPS, etc.
As for whether or not 343i cares… of course they care. Microsoft is in it for the money, 343i is in it for the game.
They do care. They care deeply. Their trying to keep the franchise alive. It wouldn’t be continuing if it weren’t for them. Their trying to make it better, but they’ll make mistakes… their only human. mistakes such as cough cough Kill cams
The amount of money they get is probably very generous. But of course 343 care about Halo. I mean, the campaign for a start already looks like the best Halo campaign yet (excluding Halo: CE), Multiplayer is being advanced into the modern gaming era, something I think Bungie would’t dare do. Spartan Ops already sounds better than Fire-fight, the Graphics are fantastic, Forge has been improved. Basically, even if 343 was just in it for the money, they have still done a bloody good job.
> Sorry I stopped when you assumed anyone who likes the changes is a casual. As an almost 11 year veteran I beg to differ.
> Try not being so biased
Halo can have change but just taking anothers games ideas isn’t moving forward anywhere you just have a rip off game. You shouldnt just completely change a games core features and throw on the same damn title. It was easy for 343 because they already had a huge universe to start from with a set of characters, weapons, and vehicles already made for them. If 343 wanted to change Halo so much then why didn’t they just make an entirely new game? Well I’ll tell you why because they aren’t creative enough. They didn’t add anything new just old stuff from old games. Making weapons for a race when we have already seen their structures since Halo CE is an incredibly easy task. The only creative thing 343 did was the Prometheans and that’s it.
Having met a lot of the people working on the game, I can tell you that they care beyond measure. None of them would be working on the game if they didn’t care about Halo.
> And casual gamers are wrecking Halo because no matter what 343 throws in the game you don’t care cause you just want to play even if it’s incredibly imbalanced you don’t give a damn.
I’d say that they care but marketing wise the multiplayer is where the money is at,that’s why they’re making so many changes to draw in new players. Doesn’t bother me though they need the money because they are just starting off, Halo 4 is looking amazing, I can only imagine how great Halo 5 will be.
Okay, I understand your point, and its understandable. They do love Halo, they love it dearly, but to keep Halo going, THEY NEED MONEY! Thats the reality of it. So they take some of what is from other games and apply it to Halo. They apply it and make it work and make it so that it stills feels like Halo to long-time fans, but is what the new comers find interesting and will keep them playing. 343 has had a tremendous amount of work set for them, and they have tried their best to keep Halo one of the best games out there. Only a fan could possibly take on that task, not someone who is just looking for another paycheck. We will all know on Halo 4’s release.
