Dodging Spartan Charge

Can anyone successfully dodge Spartan Charge repeatedly, without using thrusters? I feel like Spartan Charge hit box is big to the point where jumping over the guy can’t be done. It’s like you either need thrusters, or the guy must be brain dead awful to miss. Trying to side step doesn’t work imo.

Even with thrusters it’s almost impossible to evade because you need to be able to see the threat, then react to that threat by moving the stick in the direction you want to thrust. Add network latency onto that, and avoiding it is next to impossible. Best case scenario 90% of the time, you can melee them, but it’ll take your shields down as well.

I’m not really a fan of the way it works now, on some maps (like Rig) it rewards reckless players who sprint everywhere, over players who are cautious and try not to run straight into a no-win situation. A lot of the time if you come around a blind corner and someone is sprinting, you’re out of luck.

I don’t mind the fact that the mechanic exists, but the distance on it is just crazy and most of the time there’s very little you can do about it, even if you see someone sprinting from quite a distance away.

Pro Tip : You Can’t

Doesn’t anyone know that when one is spartan charging, the Mjolnir GEN 2 armor creates a strong electromagnetic field around itself, which in turn tricks the opponents armor to engage its own opposite electromagnetic field too? If you’re going to go ballistic might as well add some sort of tracking right?!

I side step charges pretty often (I miss when I do them more, but ya know)
Its not too terribly hard, but 90% of the time you get Spartan charged is when you’re surrounded or can’t see the enemy, that’s why its hard to dodge

The thing that irritates me the most about it is that to me, when I decide to sprint, I’m consciously deciding to be reckless and to take on the risk of encountering someone by surprise, and having to go through that delay where they can shoot me but I can’t shoot back yet. It’s a risk/reward thing, where the reward is getting to my destination faster.

It’s not very fair for me then, as the reckless player, to have an advantage in that encounter. Ultimately I should get wrecked, unless I go for a slide to mess up their aim, and perhaps get a melee if I get close enough.

Try crouching.

Does that make a difference? I’d have thought the spartan charge would still have the same impact in that case, no?

Plasma grenade does wonders as does the splinter grenade.

I can almost never avoid a Spartan charge, no matter how fast in advance I see the guy. Same with a regular melee, I could thrust back, left or right with or without jumping, they always seem to hit me. My experience, however, is the exact opposite. Someone could be standing completely still and I’ll try to charge them, and they’ll take one step to the left, not even thrusting and I still miss.

I don’t get it.

If you have a chance - Shoot. Melee. Then shoot again quicker than they can - if you’re caught out of position and you hear it - try boosting back or forward depending on where you hear them charging from (you may get lucky and get and easy kill). I win about %70 of straight on Spartan charging I can land a melee on. Nothing you can do from the side or back.

Spartan charging is a noob move if you ask me. I wouldn’t sweat it too much - those reckless players get killed a lot more than the Spartan charging helps them anyway.

Spartan charge has made the game near unplayable for me it’s horrible and EVERYONE IS DOING IT it’s particularly awful in breakout. If I’m in an advantageous position and someone sprints at me I should not have to reposition myself when they are sprinting straight into bullets that’s just bad gameplay design imo, or when someone sprints around a corner and smash skilled players don’t Sprint around corners we stop get our gun up and be ready to engage this is a noob mechanic and needs to be nerfed

Hope they miss. If you happen to have an SMG and you see them coming, hold down the trigger and DO NOT MELEE, the charge will push you out of range and they’ll just one-shot you. Better to just keep firing, you’ll usually kill them at the end of their charging animation.

They seem to side-step my charges all the time :S

Pretty easy to do if u see them coming with thruster. Near impossible to.side step. Melee is better option if u have no thrusters.

You assume it’s always a noob doing it but realistically it’s not. If I sprint at you while you have said advantage positions. I have to assume I’m running into a hail of gun fire without charging. Sure the short radar might make it harder for you to spot me but that’s on you lol short radar isn’t news anymore.

If we’re playing stronghold and were fighting for a base both teams lobbing Nades. I will absolutely take the risk of sprinting in and charging a low shield Spartan.

Not all Spartan charge uses are noobish. And those that are barely have a good enough risk to reward ratio. They are left so vulnerable for one attack that isn’t even a guaranteed one hit kill.

But i def see it becoming an irritating issue when King of the hill drops! Charge into the hill after everyone stars shooting and tossing nades

I manage to bypass Spartan Charges all the time. But not by side-stepping…but walking and/or thrusting backwards. Most people get jumpy and try to Spartan Charge a bit prematurely so they would hit you at the tail-end of the animation. Just walking backwards is surprisingly effective at countering people sprinting at you.

You can also just throw a plasma/splinter grenade right in their face…
