Doctor Halsey's revenge... du du du

So what do people think about how the Dr will tie in with the rest of the current universe? Any ideas to how she will “take revenge” and while i’m asking what is Mdama up to at the same time?

Halsey is definitely playing Jul. I imagine that she’d just have to bide her time until she can escape from the Covenant with the Janus Key half. Perhaps she will escape through a portal that only a “Reclaimer” can use. After that, it’s a matter of convincing the UNSC that she is not the enemy.

A secret romp with Sarah Palmer would just do the universe a whole lot of good, all the while washing away the salinity of SpOps.

I like to believe that her mind will become the foundation of a new Domain. That would be the perfect revenge I think. Nobody could touch her and, if she were to accumulate a huge sum of knowledge, she would become to valuable to destroy, if destruction is even possible.

She wanted to know everything after all.

Now that’s interesting. But how does that even work?

Magic.

Oh, of course. How could I be so blind?

My instinct (informed by decades long diet of sci-fi) is that Halsey is going to use Forerunner tech on her self. In the beginning of Halo 4 Halsey had that line about the Spartans being the next step of human evolution and the Librarian’s comments about advancing human evolution kind of point to a theme of transhumanism or even posthumanism. The fact that Halsey lost an arm alas gives a concrete reason for her to experiment on herself, regardless of her ideology.

I just see a plot point pattern of Halsey “achieving her final form”. Cobra’s “Domain mind” idea could match up with this easily.

Space Magic

Biotics from Mass Effect?

Not sure how well that would go…

A million thanks for this post!

She is playing Jul the fool. hehe. I see her wanting revenge on Serin and Palmer but she is smart enough to know the it wasn’t the whole of the UNSC that tried to take her out.
If she manages to get away I can see her passing on all she knows to “her” Spartans because they seem to be the most important thing in the universe to her.

Whatever the hell she’s planning, my people will put a stop to it.

We’ve got her operations playbook; Halsey will not be viewed as an active threat for long.

What if she is planning something that benefits humanity?

Sounds like you are underestimating Halsey.

Knowing how Halsey likes to manipulate the Spartans, she may set up a trap for John, tantalizing him with clues that Cortana survived the Didact’s attack on Earth.

> Knowing how Halsey likes to manipulate the Spartans, she may set up a trap for John, tantalizing him with clues that Cortana survived the Didact’s attack on Earth.

Given that she didn’t even know John was alive, what makes you think she knows Cortana’s fate? She didn’t exactly have time to go over Chief’s debriefing before Roland called in the guards. I also have to wonder what purpose trapping John and trying to convince him she has a way to bring back Cortana will hold. Neither John or Halsey are stupid enough to either think of that plan in the case of the latter or fall for it in the case of the former.

All we know is that Jul 'Mdama has her in his hands. We know she isn’t going to do anything that will directly harm humanity, much less anything that intentionally harms her Spartans. I’m sure she’ll try to contact Chief through some means, but Chief isn’t going to buckle under her saying she can bring Cortana back, if she even knows Cortana is dead.

Got to think these things with a more open-mind. Halsey really has nothing to gain by doing something that is going to harm the things she spent most of her life accomplishing and defending.

Is that an attempt at insulting me? Careful.

No, just advice on thinking things more open-minded. I’m sure Halsey will try to contact Chief, just not quite with the more nefarious intent you suggested. With John being her favorite Spartan and probably her best hope for coming out of things alive, alienating him with betrayal isn’t exactly the smartest move. That was what the rest of my post was saying.

What, exactly, is this supposed to mean?
