Do you want sprint in Halo 5?

Personally I like sprint because it makes the game more fast paced, which is something I always encourage in a game. But I would like to know you guys thoughts.

No, I would prefer that sprint be gone.

In Boise’s thread, several people - Vektor, Swift, Ramirez, tsassi, xboxdigger, pulvis, nasqer, and others - have all responded to proposals for altering sprint with the following observation (stated in various ways):

To make sprint work in a game with long killtimes, you have to alter it such that it is no longer sprint.

Sprint by definition is a faster speed with combat disabled, and is often (but not necessarily) limited in duration. The key part of the sprint definition is disabling combat functions . . . which is the very aspect that breaks it for Halo. Any enhanced speed mechanic that disables combat - which is every type of sprint - fundamentally does not work.

You could have a “boost” function (faster speed, combat functions enabled), a slowly increasing running speed if transiting long distances (again, combat functions enabled), a FoV placebo (combat functions enabled), an evade function (temporary, not for transit), etc. . . . but they all boil down to replacing sprint with another mechanic.

Any change to fix that turns the mechanic into something other than sprint. So sprint should be gone. Replaced? Maybe. But no more sprint.

Default sprint is a spectacular waste of a button, IMO. And aside from that, there are countless other issues that come alongside it.

No.

For those who aren’t aware, here is a long-standing poll made by GH057ayame that has thousands of votes. 71% are against sprint in Halo.

NO

I like having good maps
I like having good weapons
I like being able to run and gun

So if you ask if i want sprint back i will tell you 100x NO.

Halo is a Run AND Gun shooter, not a Run OR Gun shooter.

you must be new to the forum. nothing bad with it, just take yourself a few minutes,
next time before opening a thread, it is pretty common sense that the vocal majority
doesn’t want sprint & this should be acknowledged & respected.

As long as it is in Campaign, FF/SpOps, and customs I do not care. I have liked MM with and without sprint. As long as I am not moving at a snail’s pace I am fine.

Great, another one of these threads…? Isn’t there a new ‘Sprint’ thread every week? And every time there is, nearly everybody only has to say two letters and be praised… and the ones who want it to stay get their heads bitten off.

Yes, I want sprint to stay because I believed it was greatly balanced and added a new element of skill to the game.
Now I’ve painted a bulls-eye on my back…
