Do You Want Destructible Phantoms/Pelicans?

Do you want Halo Xbox One to have destructible Phantoms/Pelicans/any new ships like in Halo 3/Reach or no?

Discuss below.

Maybe as an objective in campaign or something. Aren’t they both destructible in Halo 4 anyway?

The Pelicans you can fly are destructible, but AI controlled Pelicans and Phantoms are not.

A.I occupied pelicans are invincible but phantoms and player controlled pelicans aren’t. I believe that they could have reduced health and get thrown into multiplayer. They would be great vehicles for dropping in teammates and for co-ordinated attacks.

I want some massive BF-styled faction wars.

Phantoms and player-controlled Pelicans already are destructible.

^ This. Phantoms have been destructible since Halo 3.

…Actually, I don’t think they were destructible in ODST or Reach? They DEFINITELY are in Halo 3 and Halo 4, though.

As for Pelicans, I’d like to see them as destructible vehicles instead of scripted crash landings.

I’m pretty dang sure Phantoms are destructible in Halo 4, there was a SpOps mission which you had to take two down

I want DRIVABLE Pelicans and Phantoms in custom games and Forge.

A key thing about H3 Phantoms was that you could target their engines, destroying them quicker, which was a great strategic implementation provided you had the necessary utilities (i.e. fuel rod gun). It somewhat gave you control over how events played out. In H3, it felt like there were a lot of destructible elements to the Phantom. I especially loved the explosion detail. There was also a lot of depth to it, you could get inside of it or operate the turret. You could even move it around with brute shots (to make enemies drop off into the water, to get it into the cutscene).

I also miss the Shade projectile. The concussion rounds are very annoying.

Reach/H4 Phantoms, they’re just annoying. I rarely try to destroy them, just shooting their turrets off is enough to make them flee.

Granted, Reach/H4 Phantoms are easier to stay on, especially in Reach due to Armor Lock. But it’s not the same as above.

Oh, I guess I just haven’t blew up a Phantom yet lol. My bad.

Yes.

That’s fine!

A couple years ago in Halo 3, I decided to shoot a Phantom on Tsavo Highway with a Fuel Rod Gun. It blew right the heck up. I was pretty shocked that was a thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

What about all the phantoms we blow up in SpOps?

As far as utilization goes in multiplayer, I would be hesitant to advocate. People complain about jet pack breaking map flow. Can you imagine what a flying troop carrier would do? They’ve yet to really get flying vehicles right. They either end up too vulnerable due to lack of cover or too powerful do to overwhelming firepower. Obviously there is a sweet spot, but it seems like it is too narrow to reliably hit.

Custom games and campaign would be fine though.

You can take a Phantom down in Reach with enough Rockets, but I found that it was not worth the ammo or the effort as Phantom encounters are at most a few minutes.

I don’t want too much destruction because I feel that woul ruin Halos map flow

Yes in ODST (Coastal Highway using Scorpion), Yes in Reach (Mac Cannon).
