Seems rather self explanatory. Chief is the icon of an entire generation of gamers, yet you can’t deny that he is man of very few words. Is that something you think should stay the same?
One of the more admirable qualities of the Halo games so far have been the strength of the supporting cast. Chief didn’t really have to say that much when there were other characters to frame the story; he was merely the action hero that carried it out.
I personally think this should remain the same; part of the reason why he is such a cool character to me is the fact that through his actions, his character is more easily defined. Do you feel differently? Would you prefer a more “human” Chief, with more fleshed out characterizations and aspects? Or, like me, would you rather hear our favorite Spartan drop more lines like “To give the Covenant back their bomb”?
He will be talking more in this game because it’s only him and Cortana. He has to talk. Although he is fine now, it’s kind of his style.

Only him and Cortana? Isn’t the Infinity about to crash on Requiem? I was under the impression that quite a few new characters were about to be introduced…

The story is focused more on the relationship between the chief and cortana so although there will be new characters we can assume the chief will still talk more
Well if you look to the novels he has more lines but is still the very stoic “get in and get the job done” type of hero. I think 343 is aiming to give him more lines compared to past games but at the same time keep his character true to what has been established in the wider canon.
Personally, I love his character. I think the fact that he is a man of few words helps to grab the audience’s attention. Chief is a grizzled soldier whos mental scars and emotions are buried under decades of battle. This always keep you wondering “what’s this guy going through? How is he keeping it all together?” I think it also makes him all that more badass, because you know he’s a no-nonsense hero who has a job to do and who will kill anyone or anything that stands in his way. He never wastes our time with dramatic sob stories or lengthy diatribes. You know he’s going through hell but he holds it in and keeps it to himself - because to him the mission comes first, and I definitely admire that in a character.
No, he shouldn’t talk more. He’s fine the way he is. Freeman says literally NOTHING throughout all of the games, but he’s one of the most recognized characters of all time.
one of the early statements that the Chief will be taking more than ever this time and reclaimr saga is about his personalty
He shouldn’t talk more. An almost silent and faceless protagonist allows us as players to assume his role and project ourselves into the Chief, we become the Chief because he is essentially a blank canvas. He is quiet and faceless by design to allow us to become the Chief.
If he suddenly starts talking non-stop, takes his helmet off and displays an overly developed personality then a gap between the Chief and us will form. We will become detached from him and that would be a tragic shame.
When I play Halo I feel like I am the Chief, the same as when I play as the Lone Wanderer or Chell or Jack or Dovahkiin. Their silence and plainness turns them into a conduit for me to fill.
He should have a little more dialogue, though not enough to detach him from the player.
They say actions speak louder than words… Whose louder than the Chief?
Leave the chit chat to Cortana and cutscenes. i’m happy with how things were int the previous titles.
