I love dodging Stickies, Vehicles, Snipers, etc.
All i use, I use it for strafing, catching myself if i fall, making snipers waste ammo, avoiding pummels, avoiding swords, avoiding nades and dodging vehicles. The list goes on and on but those are my most notable uses.
If I’m sniping and some kid who thinks he can snipe bodyshots me, I use it to escape.
But thruster pack sucks if you try to record in theater. You get knocked out of first person view every time you use it.

I always get speed boost if I can as you can play really aggressive as well as escape if needed to. For example.
It also works great when wanting to drop a level and maneuvering seen as you don’t have as much control in the air.
But as people as said its used well if you predict the enemy and their attacks as quickly thrusting at the right time can make you survive a rocket/incineration shot. (Not so much fuel rod as it can have 5 loaded…)
It also works well to counter melee users if you’ve got pulse grenades as you throw one at your feet and thruster back and you should have enough time to pick them off with a headshot if you timed it right.
Thruster pack is the funnest to play with for me. You can mess with your opponents mind in a strafe or ninja them. The jetpack and all those other AA’s aren’t very fun for me and i don’t enjoy playing against them either. in my perfect halo game (just my opinion) the only armor ability would be thruster pack.
Lift tricks. Haven and Solace are both amazing thruster pack maps because you can go pretty much anywhere you want if you know how/when to thrust. And jumping + thrusting backwards for an assassination can be fun.
4 out of 5 loadouts I use Thruster Pack. I feel lost when I don’t have it, I use it so much. Playing Pro I get a bit frustrated when I go to use it and remember I don’t have it. Then I laugh at myself and die because I am sitting there like an idiot.
You can use the thruster pack to unexpectedly and quickly move from cover to cover on small maps. Also, if you turn a corner and are face to face with an enemy, you could thrust up and melee the enemy, followed up with a quick burst of fire to finish the enemy, or you can thrust backwards, which will no doubt lure the enemy, and throw a grenade at your previous position, which will cause them to be one-shot.
You should thrust backwards whenever you encounter multiple enemies, as you will have time to assess the situation or lob a grenade or two.
Taking down a target’s shields and then thrusting backwards while meleeing works as well.
If you’re being chased by the enemy, you should find any piece find of cover, walk normally behind it, and since you’re being followed, you should jump and thrust back the way you came, which will surprise your pursuer and give you the upper hand.
Don’t forget the basic stuff such as dodging vehicles, explosives, thrusting down platforms.

I especially use the thruster pack now because of the updated movement speed.
Unsticking yourself by thrusting into a wall.
I use the Thruster Pack in almost all of my loadouts…

With my controls at bumper-jumper, and when I try to insta-respawn - ACCIDENTAL THRUST the second I respawn from repeatedly pressing (X)
I mostly just use it to save my life. Whether it’s a vehicle coming towards me, or someone shooting me with a Needler, it works. It’s funny because when I use it, my friends always ask if I have a Speed Boost or something because I guess I’m moving really fast. That’s the only reason I can think of that they would say that.
Well, it is nowhere as effective as it could be. If you aren’t the host, you can’t dodge swords, bashes, grenades, shots, vehicles, anything. You can use it to quickly throw yourself into cover but that’s all.
Before Movement Buff: No. Never.
After Movement Buff: Yes. It is now my second choice AA.
Though I love my Autosentry much, much more.
It’s been in 4 out of my 5 loadouts since launch, I feel naked without it. It’s an aggresive, fast players’ dream.
It’s my AA of choice! I love using it to mess up other players when I’m in close quarters.
thruster pack allows you more room to play more aggressively since it is a great way to back off, escaping the final shot and potentially grenade splash damage
you can afford to risk 1v1 as you have a method out if you are about to lose, which is very useful
thruster pack is also very good for disorientating players who come and try to beat down / get the final shot on you
escaping a myriad of weapons such as that second sniper shot, boltshot, railgun, fuel rod, sticky det is very useful
When I know someone has a boltshot, I specifically sprint in with a jump and thruster backwards once the enemy has committed. You will always be at an advantage.
