Maybe they’ll add Firefight? It would reuse the assets they already have, even setting it in the open world and making basic objectives like “Hold this FOB from waves of Hunters” could turn it into something more. It’s not just manpower, it’s priorities, the store has always been #1 for 343 whether they want to or not. I’m bitter after buying 3 $80 games off of promises.
you know that there have been a lot off layoff’s at 343 also since its one of the 2 developing companys that got the most layoff’s also in the 10,000 layoff’s in general from microsoft.
so to make the game stable with a smaller team then before is not going to happing at all.
since with the team there got before the layoff’s was all a big problem to make the game stable at all.
and about the BR part you can keep dreaming about it.
since you need a compleet big team to keep it runing in the first place.
and most of all there never get the budget for it also to make a BR game since there have blow all a big budget away to the notting with halo infinite.
was it not first that Co-Op online and the splitscreen Co-Op supposed to save the game first before forge.
Season 2 didnt save it, Forge didnt save it, The winter update didnt save it, Season 3 will not save it. People have been coping for months about every next update “saving halo” but is just that, cope. Fixing all the networking issues might bring a little people back but that’ll probably take years.
Guys, we really just need to give up on this game. It’s literally eating us. It’s been a decade of this. And this is the worst of it. Things are bad and sitting here talking about “Will they turn it around” is so delusional.
I agree with this, even 343 should give up on this game lol and just move on learn from their mistakes and just start working on the next game
Nobody is stopping you from doing that. The fact you are still here discussing it says you aren’t following through on your beliefs. Maybe you should check back in a couple of years, just to say ‘I told you so’.
Will probably have to wait on that next game. Don’t know how successful Infinite was but it was very expensive. The best course of action would be for 343 to at least try to put out a map or two every season and maybe a weapon all the while churning out new items in the shop to get more money.
There might eventually be a season where some big new gameplay thing is added but I’d say its mostly cosmetics, forge maps, maybe equipment for the people who are still playing but I wouldn’t expect a big resurgence
Sad to say but I don’t feel like halo as a game will ever be a huge hit again for a few simple reasons. Halo as a franchise is a fairly old game and i feel like the vast majority of halo fans such as myself are not the younger generation of gamers. Not saying some younger kids don’t like it but the majority are prob people that have played or followed halo since the beginning. my Kids are younger and I’ve asked why the don’t like halo and my son who plays Fortnite religiously says it’s just too boring and sweaty to boot. Plus they all like to sit and talk to each other while they play whereas halo is like dead silence most of the time. There are literally hundreds of millions of young gamers out there and they are just not interested in this game. with that being said I just feel like the fan base is aging itself out to some degree. I Could be wrong but just ask some teenage kids why they don’t play it and you’ll have your answer to why the popularity has crashed. obviously there’s a multitude of other reasons it’s not doing well with even our demographic but as far as millions of people flocking to play it …. I don’t see it happening. I don’t have an answer but some advertising or branching spin-offs geared toward younger gamers to increase popularity might be its only saving grace. To see if this theory holds water an age poll of players would be interesting although I feel like halo waypoint is a fairly small sample size
I haven’t posted in here in a while. I came in to see what everyone was talking about due to the latest news of the goings on at Microsoft and 343.
It’s disheartening to see so many good folks holding onto what is basically a lie. It’s pretty unhealthy at this point and that needs to be said. I’m not saying don’t be a Halo fan, or don’t play the game. But for us to ramble about will this game make a come back or not is just pointless.
We need to move past the idea that this game will “Be saved”. It won’t. We’ll get drip fed little bits of nothing for a couple years before the plug is ultimately pulled. That’s sad. We shouldn’t sit around waxing poetic.
I’m only looking forward to finally having SPI armor. That’s it. We get the DMR which would also make me excited, were it not for it not being the DMR as the DMR should be because 343i is hell bound on hyper competitive balancing and that damn Commando is in the DMRs way.
Besides all of the updates only brought small changes, never fundamental ones. And those are Infinite’s problem. So no. I don’t have any hopes for Infinite with S3.
I personally think you’re right that the game won’t have a big turn around, I said so at the top of the thread. 343i’s track record doesn’t give a lot of reason for confidence but worse games have been ‘saved’. No Man’s Sky, Fallout 76, CyberPunk, Battlefront 2 are some examples that I can think of.
Certainly doesn’t mean it will happen in this case but if people wish to be optimistic then good luck to them because I’d rather they turn out to be right, then for us to be right.
And if your genuine worried about people’s health then have a read of this: https://www.heartandstroke.ca/articles/how-optimism-benefits-your-health
No. It’s time to accept or reject the game for what it is. If major changes were coming, 343 would have teased it or implemented them already. The game isn’t the worst, I still play, but realistically this is what we have and it won’t change substantially. Which means player count won’t change significantly either.
If season 3 launches when they say it will, there will be a spike that will die again.
I haven’t and will not pay for a thing in this game and I hope others do the same. There is no reason for them to fix anything if they keep getting money. They’ve made their profits.
Excuses and defense of this game need to stop. What has become of this game is pathetic. Everything is bugged in this game. The more I play it, the more it bugs out. The UI is so cumbersome. You can’t even mission replay without several steps after going into the game campaign first ( my son just explained this to me…this game is so rooted ) We play coop and it keeps crashing, so we don’t play coop.
No collision ( I think this is more of a problem than people realise and how much it negatively affects the gameplay and why the game suffers other gameplay “anomolies”. This wasn’t just a bad design choice, I feel they stuffed it up, possibly beyond fixable ) lag, desync, grenades that bounce like ping pong balls, and at first I was skeptical though now I’m fairly convinced there is either some kind of magnetism or early / delayed detonation depending on where the grenade is in flight.
I feel this game will not get any better, where it matters.
Agreed, seems to me the goal post have continued to move since March 31, 2012
Halo Infinite is a lot like Battlefront II (2017). Things could improve a lot, but the damage done is permanent in the eyes of the general public. Battlefront II was fantastic for all players once they added the coop mode, but that didn’t change public perception of the game. People will still insist it’s garbage because of the initial launch and first year after release. Halo Infinite is in the same boat. No matter what is done, the “Infinite” title is doomed.
That’s definitely true to an extent. Perhaps the pure outrage at Battlefront 2 might have made it harder for people to forgive, compared to the disappointment at a missed opportunity that Infinite seems to get.
If only, and I do mean IF ONLY, the game wasn’t putting people into 150-300ms games, the population and game’s reception would be in a much, much better shape. It wasn’t just stubborness, just plain stupidly from 343 side to force on global matchmaking (which as far as I’m aware is still the default option set in game to this day). This, and forced crossplay are the two things that drove the stir soon after the game launched, now fast forward to today, it’s 2023 already and basically still nothing changed, we do can now switch to regional MM but you have to be aware there’s such an option in the first place, so for every newcomer it’s gonna be all the same terrible experience as back in the late 2021 when the game launched. And nothing points towards any of it to change, not anytime soon nor ever.
Totally agree that the global matchmaking drove away a lot of players and it is still the default setting. Problem is it took them too long to bring out the local match making, so now with the small remaining player base it has to be off by default. High ping games beats regularly not finding games at all in some playlists from a player retention perspective (both are very bad but it’s the lesser of two evils). It’s totally their fault that it ended up this way but that’s the reality now.
One possibility is if they make the system smart enough so that it searches locally initially, then if there aren’t any matches available within maybe 30 sec, it brings up a prompt asking if the player would like to search globally or keep waiting for a local game.
An option to toggle cross play would be nice but I don’t think it drove away many players, certainly not the casual ones.
It’s too late. It’s taken WAYYYYY too long for content and update drops. I’ve never seen a company work so slow before. Wouldn’t be a big deal if there a substantial multiplayer game here with many things to do…
With that said if it drops with an actual career progression, stats page, and more maps, with playlist that features community made maps, I’ll be playing.
If it doesn’t include everything I mentioned, it isn’t even worth starting up.
No I don’t believe it at all. Actually season 3 and 4 will release for appearances but I don’t think the game will be supported for much longer. For me Infinite could have a chance if it went the Destiny route with campaign dlc every year or two to attract people that are not into multiplayer or in story content and casual multiplayer. With no campaign dlc Halo Infinite will have a really hard time to bring back attention to the game. Imo
