Do you think they will reduce Chief dialogue?

I heard they recently announced that this will be a spiritual sequel to the original and I’m wondering if that means they will dial back Chief’s dialogue.
I personally hope not, I really enjoy the character development. What do you think, and what are you hoping for?

Probably, I imagine a lot of stuff from 4 and 5 are going to get tossed out to make fans happy. At this point I just want good gameplay design.

Not quite. What they actually said was that it is a spiritual reboot of the franchise, meaning that it’s not a rehash of old events but will bring back the tone of the original games, as far as I can tell. Idk what that will mean for Chief and his dialogue, but I’m somewhat conflicted. On the one hand, I liked the Bungie-era mechanic of Chief being an empty shell so that I could see myself as the Chief. But I also liked the Halo 4 Chief who had a lot of character development. Either way, I just hope that 343 sticks to either little-to-no dialogue or H4 style dialogue. The H5 Chief just didn’t feel like Chief at all.

This has always seemed like a point with not as much contention as some other stuff like Spartan abilities. I wouldn’t mind either way, but after having constant dialog during missions and doing a 180 to have none would be jarring. So I imagine the amount of dialog during missions would either be slightly reduced or unchanged.

I personally enjoyed the dialog Chief had with Cortana in H4 and would like to see some more of that style return. It flowed well and the lines suited his personality. I wasn’t as much of a fan of it in H5 for every character, not just Chief. It seemed like entire sections of the campaign were designed solely for the sake of having characters talk to one another and deliver exposition, eg., the “elevator” in The Breaking.
