Sorry, ran out of title space.
Do you think the campaign would’ve been better if we also got to play a few missions as the arbiter? (co-op would’ve been like Halo 3)
I know this might carry into the whole “Playable Elites” conversation, but focusing on just the campaign right now.
For example, the mission “swords of sanghelios” Locke has to go and find the Arbiter in his chambers.
What if, there was a mission before that where we play as the Arbiter and we’re there when the fight started before Locke was on his way?
There’s also the mission “Battle of Sunion” (or something like that I believe) where we’re with the arbiter in the beginning, but he disappears to go fight with the other Elites while Locke continues forwards. Again, there could also be another mission to play as Arbiter.
What do you all think? Good idea? Nay?
That can wait until the next one. Two perspective in a game is just fine.
Any moment not spent playing as Osiris is significantly better than time spent playing as them. Were it the case of playing as the Arbiter at some point it most certainly would have helped in making Halo 5 the “Halo 2” of the Reclaimer trilogy. It most certainly would have been appropriate to do it while taking advantage of the Sanghelios setting.
I’ve made my contempt against Locke and Osiris clear enough, but even despite how essential it is that Locke must be playable, at the very least I would have liked the campaign a whole lot more were the levels balanced out with each playable protagonist. Half Locke levels, half Chief levels. Or were Arbiter included five for each character. Instead we got 13 levels as Locke and only 2 as Chief.
That’s a good idea! Although they did attempt to make the campaign squad focused and I’m not sure how they’d be able to introduce that with the Arbiter. You could suggest standard Elites but every other member in both Blue and Osiris had back stories etc. It might undermine that whole squad dynamic. That being said I would of loved to be able to play as the Arbiter again.

Touché.

Well here’s something you could all ponder for a sec.
We had quite a few (2 or 3?) missions of “Let’s have a nice walk around town” Those (at least 2) could’ve been replaced with Arbiter missions. Would that make this topic seem more worthwhile?
The story would have been better if they made the man who’s become a pop culture icon the focal point of the game instead of Locke.
