Do you think the Didact was a good villain?

He was kind of didactic.

It would be cool if they did a flashback of the Didacts interrogation of the Primordial.

Halo Canon did a vid where apparently you do hear the Didacts voice among some of the whispers so he could come back in some capacity.

Didact is my favourite villain in the series. I think he was well done, the terminals added more value to his motives and backstory. I liked the art style and the music that went with him.

I hear 343 didn’t put him in 5 nor honour his character with a proper ending and was dumped into a comic.

He was but I liked the idea of the fourunners being a mystery race never to be seen.

Also he was literally the worse threat to exist in the games. He had full access to fourunner technology and he knew how to work it all aswell.

He seemed like the most powerful villain and was wasted far too soon.

Miles ahead better than Cortana. Miles!

I think so too.
He has a strong relationship with the librarian who is a collaborator of the chief.
He is the race that created HALO itself. It was a big existence.
I’m worried that 343, who wasted him, deserves to create a world of HALO.
343 Industries doesn’t like the attitude of not valuing the game

Best we’ve had shame 343i have no spine when it comes to narrative. This aimless retracting approach is killing my interest in the universe. Infinite essentially said screw you to every lore fan and author of extended universe fiction.
It wouldn’t be hard to on ramp players to deeper lore without losing the core storytelling of games past.
Infinite failed pretty hard at being an entry point and still hand waved away much of what was built up in the years since bungie left.
The 343i system of being lore focused and simultaneously not respecting any of the established lore is pretty annoying for me personally.
Further the popularity of multiverses right now and fractures has me worried for the continuity going forward.
As such I feel the Didact who was an excellent antagonist with a rich but poorly conveyed set of goals and motivations won’t get the consideration he deserves. He, the flood, created, and harbinger(especially with the wardens similar silhouette) can still get a satisfactory conclusion but I’m not convinced we the fans will get that level of respect from the future of halos narrative.

@Briarfox132967 He was only contained at the forge he isn’t dead. Plenty of concept art to support this. Plus cortana literally lifting his lines in Guardians. There hope yet.

I am aware of the concept art of him. I was more lamenting that his fate was dealt with in a short comic book as opposed to a game or book, where it could be fleshed out more.

Maybe he’ll still appear in some capacity one day! I did like him as a villain.

YEp.

i took the lore and narrative my own way.

i think that’s something great about an underdeveloped plot
as i was ignorant*

The DIDACT to me portrayed FORERUNNER CULTURE

to me that was Fantastic

because they had no TOOLS,
No LODGING,
No Art,
No Culture.

they had nothing.

this insinuated to me that the Forerunners were

Cattle Class, breeders
Engineers,
and the Military.

The Didact was a Cesear, with autocratic power

and his QUEEN the benevolent, and somewhat jaded denizen.

The People, lived in a pasture,
naked

eating fruits and vegetation or animals long since eradicated,

and the current fauna are that which evolved from microorganisms, all anew.

while the military wore lifesupport exosuits.

The Engineers, tirelessly worked at ONE TECHNIQUE
like an ant farm. unimaginative.
under-devolved sentient life forms with an intellect capacity.

Each member of the military was naive, and never saw fit to incite civil war, so the Autocrat maintained station

the benevolent queen loved her people, like a puppy.

and the Engineers simply worked with one known variety of technology that encompasses the broad array of applications seen,

from teleporting, and stasis, weaponry, shields, hovering, mechanisms, and now suspended stasis.

~

He awaoke with the mind set he entered hibernation with,
updated on human language as the FORERUNNER tech recorded their development,

SEEING AS,
the Forerunner tech must interpret Behaviour characteristics with Galactical Monitoring, to translate a language.

He was awake for some time, as the Rings were destroyed, and the Arch, and the Earth Instalment, among other human and Covenant interactions,

and a blatant Flood reimergence.
he then Hunted, FOUND and persecuted John 117.

it was cool.
its a shame he had to die.
could have easily had a halo 4 campaign expansion accompanied by a fat 3-12map pvp map pack.
and the $60 game sale would have helped 343.

ugly as hell,
but, I THOUGHT the forerunners evolved into humans.

I think he was not only a good villain but a great character as well. I’d love to see him return

Yeah he was cool enough for me, but I liked it better when Forerunners weren’t fleshed out, I like how much mystery there was surrounding their species.
