If you look at Jorge’s death he died for a reason when he blew up the Ship. Caters death was as well noble, he died so Emile and Six can get to the pillar of autumn.Emile died beautifully trying to take on all those elites. But in my opinion Kat’s deathwas plain stupid.Does anyone else think so? I mean her helmet would have taken it Right?
In war not everybody gets a glorious death going down in a hail of gunfire…sometimes some punk Elite gets off a lucky shot…
…however, I think they should have kept to the rules of the game. In all other game scenarios a head shot with a needle rifle would not have been possible on a spartan without knocking down his/her shields first…and if that was the intent, it should have made it a bit more clear that her shields were in fact down. As it is, it looks a bit cheap.
Kat’s death was the best moment of the whole campaign.
Just glad she died. Shame it wasn’t in an earlier mission.
“Oh my god. Kat finally shuts up.”
Came from the Tyrant’s Legendary guide for New Alexandria.
And yes, her death was just purely cheap, another reason why I hate Halo Reach.
I think her death symbolizes greatly that the Spartans aren’t invincible and can be killed just like that. Sure they’ve been trained since childhood and been sent out on suicide missions and lived to tell the tale but in the end they are human and a bullet is still going to kill them. Her death also goes well with the themes that persist throughout Reach such as helplessness and despair. (Though i did think it was cheap)
Kat’s death was the “shocker” one because it was so sudden. I, personally, didn’t think it was stupid, but I get that.
One thing I personally lacked in Reach was a connection to Noble team. I wasn’t upset when Kat died like I was when Miranda Keyes died or Johnson. Yes, both those characters had at least 2 games to develop but I feel like Noble team’s characters had very little development before they started dying off.
Needle Rifles: Noble Team’s weakness.
Yeah, I do think it was a bit strange. Stupid isn’t quite the word…
I think you should NOT POST SPOILERS on the titles. Think in others as well dam it. What if some one comes to the forums wit out finishing the game?
who’s Kat?
Nope. I hate cats.
I liked it because it was sudden and ususpected as they were helpless to so much as retaliate. and as for everyone who is confused why she was one shotted she didnt even put her helmet back on until halfway down the elevator ride or so. Her armor hadnt rebooted enough for the shields to activate yet pure and simple, i never understood why any of them ever took their helmets off just makes them vulnerable
I died so many times because of her. Screw her.
No but I think that the vehicle physics for UNSC vehicles are stupid. It’s because of their auto-powerslide, lack of sturdiness (they flip easily), and lack of bumpiness (think CE hog) that Kat’s universally identified as a bad driver.
She’s quite the killer if she spawns with a pistol. With the needle rifle, she’d be even more effective.
Spartans have the ability to disable their shields since canonically, they make it harder to walk since the shielding on their feet acts as a slippery bubble, although they can reduce the shielding in those areas. The shielding on their feet also explains fall damage because the shields on their feet take the hit just like if a Spartan was hit in the front. I always found it odd how I could survive jumping off a building on Sandtrap in Halo 3.
If you’re wondering how Noble Six somehow survived falling from space, that is because his/her armor was locked up just like the Master Chief’s was in the initial cut-scene of Halo 3.
Wow I sound like a nerd…
Besides, it’s better than the Elite who has trained to kill for all of his life only to be stuck by a Grunt

To argue that point, that is why they were running, there was an emp blats and it turned off their shields, which left them vulnerable.

Nope…not buying that one. Just watched it again…radiation flare & glassing laser from covenant ship…rode an elevator down w/plenty of time for shield recharge, then started running, and she got shot…none of them had any sign of a shield flicker the whole time, even during the initial blast that sent them running. Plus if they were so vulnerable before the open comm chat, why were they just lounging around, helmets off just kicking back? No sir, thanks for the try, but it just doesn’t add up.
…& if that is the actual “canon” reason for why, it should have been made very clear during the cutscene that her shields were down, not explained outside of the contextual video.
It’s sad to watch but since I’ve played it so many times I really don’t care anymore. I always skip the cutscenes now.
I refuse to believe that Jorge died… He was hurled through a slipstream and will somehow meet up with Master Chief in Halo 4
